The Blessing of a Child

Posted in Family, and Holidays

Children are a gift from the Lord.

Munchkin

It’s never easy to raise a child.  They don’t come with a handbook because each child would need their own personalized handbook.  Each child is so unique.  Thankfully, the Lord has given us some guidance in how to bring up our children to know and love Him in His Word.

Life is not perfect, and I know that I make mistakes.  The Lord forgives.  Munchkin forgives.  D forgives.  I do my best to be a loving example for Munchkin.  Whenever I start to feel concerns rise up from within, whenever I get a bit overwhelmed, I can turn to the Lord for help, for guidance.

Munchkin is growing up so fast.  In fact, on Sunday, we measured her in comparison to me.  She’s got about an inch and a half before she’s as tall as me.  Her hands are as big as mine.  Her once tiny feet are now bigger than mine.  Yep, she’s growing up very quickly, and I want to treasure each moment.

I thank the Lord for the blessing of my child, my Munchkin.  She is my gift from God.  I’m striving to not take these precious days for granted.  All too soon, she’ll be all grown up.

Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
the fruit of the womb a reward.
~ Psalm 127:3

  1. She is beautiful! I know how you feel about them getting bigger. My 13yr old daughter is an inch taller than me now. She loves it.

  2. What a blessing to have a girl. Your post sounds a lot like what has happened to my daughter and I. MY Dd is a lot taller than I am.

  3. She has such gorgeous eyes. It’s so sad and yet so fulfilling to watch them grow up. My oldest turns 16 on Thanksgiving day and I am in awe of the man he is becoming, but at the same time asking myself where did the time go. We have to be careful to savor every moment, thanks for the reminder. Have a blessed day!

  5. As a mother of three, two taller than their mommy, I can truly join you in praising Our Lord for the gift of children.

I always say this and I will continue to say…we become the women we are meant to be, when we become mothers!

  8. Oh my goodness, are her eyes really that blue??? Wow! Lovely!

I have grown accustomed to having sons who are now young men and are both quite tall…much taller than me! (I’m 5’7-1/2″, btw!) I love it. Take joy in their growth, and in the process of helping them become young adults, it is such a privilege and honor to go through this process of life with them!

  9. This is such a sweet post. I understand where you’re coming from completely. It’s kind of sad and kind of happy at the same time when they’re growing up. **sigh** But praise the Lord for them, because our children are indeed a blessing.
