Family Hiking at Picacho

Posted in Family, Holidays, and Outdoor Adventures

Daddy on Hill

It wasn’t that long ago that taking longer hikes with Munchkin and D was a huge task for me.  My inhaler was in constant use, and I was in a great deal of pain.  It wasn’t a matter of being out of shape.  It was various health issues that caused me to struggle.  It was frustrating for everyone involved.

High on the Hill

I am so grateful that I am now able to hike along with my family.  Oh, I’m still lagging behind them a bit, but that is partially because of my short legs and partially due to not being as in shape as they are.  It also is because I love taking pictures which means I’m always stopping.  That tends to keep a person from keeping up with those who are just hiking. lol!

Climbing Down

I posted before about rejoicing in conquering a hard hike on the Queen’s Garden and Navajo Trail at Bryce Canyon.  The more that we’re able to hike together, the more I praise the Lord for this gift.

Munchkin and Puppy Hiking

On Friday, we headed out as a family to explore a new area in Picacho State Park.  Puppy came along with us.  Even though he’s getting older and has a little more difficulty in hiking longer distances, he loves going out with us.  I was able to try out the new hiking boots that D got me last month for my birthday.  Boy was I thankful for those new boots as they kept me from slipping quite as much on the rocks we were climbing.

Family Hiking Together

Thank you Lord for allowing me the ability to be able to hike with my family.

This post is part of the Gratitude Challenge and  a Month of Thanksgiving.

  4. Looks like a great place for hiking. Here in New England we have smaller and greener (or whiter) mountains for hiking. I’m glad that you are able to enjoy this time with your family.
