My Thoughts:
One of my favorite aspects of the Answers for Kids series is that the questions are written by kids from around the world. The answers are geared towards kids ages 6-12. Each of the volumes focuses certain topics. Volume 5 features 20 questions from kids on space and astronomy, and Volume 6 features 22 questions from kids on Babel and the Ice Age.
Each of the answers highlights at least one Bible verse. All of the answers are based in scripture. In addition to the scripture given in the answer, there are also additional scripture passages given to assist parents in answering the questions more in-depth or for further study by the child.
Volume 5 tackles a variety of questions about space and astronomy. The questions include:
- What day were the planets created?
- Is it possible that there are living things in space?
- Did Christians believe the earth was flat?
- What are the rings of planets made from?
- and 16 more….
Volume 6 tackles a selection of questions about the Tower of Babel and the Ice Age. The questions include:
- Where was the Tower of Babel built?
- Are there any archaeological remains of the Tower of Babel?
- How did people with different skin colors get on the earth?
- How does an ice age happen?
- and 18 more….
All answers are based in a literal interpretation of scripture including a 6-day creation week and world-wide flood. Answers also include historic information when applicable. The answers do have a scientific basis, but not all answers will line up with traditional, secular science when theories are involved. (ie: aliens – secular scientists say it’s possible while the Bible says otherwise.) The archaeological questions also have a foundation in scripture as the finds are viewed from a Biblical viewpoint.
