Day 6: I am grateful that the Lord gave me the ability to stay calm, cool, and collected today while dealing with a frustrating situation at the ranch. I am thankful that although I may not understand why things are happening, I know that the Lord’s got this. While I do pray that His will and my will are the same, I will praise Him no matter the outcome.
Isn’t it wonderful that the Lord cares about all things in our lives – big or small. We can cast all of our cares/concerns upon Him and He will listen. We serve an awesome God!
Day 7: Today was a difficult day due to one of the sponsored horses needing to be put down, but the way everyone at the ranch came together to support the girl who sponsored this sweet horse was beautiful. I am thankful that we were able to come together and try to lift her up during this difficult time.
It’s never easy when a horse is injured or sick. It’s even more difficult when the injury or illness leads to needing to say goodbye. We just have to be grateful for the time that we had with those horses and not allow the hurt to keep us from loving other horses. And yes, this so easily translates to other areas of our lives.
Day 8: Through an unexpected sequence of events, Phantom is now officially a member of our family. While I’m not going to go into all the details, it was a huge relief when I signed those adoption papers.
The Lord answers our prayers. Sometimes it is the answer we desire while other times it is not. I am so thankful that this time my desires (our family desires) lined up with the Lord’s will for us.
Day 9: While we are not at the Marine Corps Ball as planned (Daddy is feeling too ill for us to travel to and from the ball location in another state), I am thankful that we’re able to spend time together as a family today.
It’s never fun for one of our family to be ill, but I think the required down time is often a blessing in our crazy lives. Thankfully, we were still able to have quality family time even though he was under the weather.
Day 10: I’m thankful for my Marine and his service to our country. Although there are days that I’m ready to settle down outside of the Marine Corps, I am thankful for the life that we have while Daddy serves. It has provided us with many opportunities including the chance to make some great friends along the way.
Happy birthday, Marines! Semper Fi!
Day 11: I am thankful for the service of our veterans and their families.
Today, I think about not only the service and sacrifice of our veterans, but I also think of all of the family members that served right along with the veterans. Their service looks different, but it’s a sacrifice just the same. Thank you!
Day 12: I am thankful for the beautiful weather that we’ve been enjoying this week.
I know the cold, bitter weather is coming, but I’m enjoying the mild days that we’re having right now. It’s nice to be able to sleep with the windows open and enjoy fresh, crisp air at night.
Day 13: I am thankful for farm fresh eggs.
On Tuesday, when we delivered a newly adopted horse to her new owner, he offered me some eggs that his chickens had laid. He had way too many for his needs, so he wanted to know if I could use any. I told him that we go through a lot of eggs at our house. He just grinned. I ended up coming home with 3 dozen eggs for free! All he wanted in return was to get the egg cartons back. I told him that was not a problem. 🙂
Day 14: I am thankful for my faithful dogs who always make me laugh. There are times that they make me want to pull my hair out with their crazy antics and getting into things, but even on their worst days, it’s hard to stay mad at them as they have a way of making me smile.
There is something about a good canine companion that makes even the worst of days much better. Their unconditional love, protection, and playfulness is a gift that I would never turn away.
