I was recently made aware of a promotion from Mrs. Smith and Edwards dessert that helps military families. Simply purchasing a sweet treat to your family or giving one to someone else will benefit a needy child or help a military family. When I was told about the promotion, I was happy to share it with my readers even though they’re not gluten free. **grin**
Through December, for every Edwards® whole pie purchased, the makers of Edwards® desserts will donate $1, up to $50,000, to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, which collects new toys from communities around the country to distribute as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children.
Side note: while you’re out shopping this year, don’t forget to drop a toy or two into the Toys for Tots bin. The Marine Corps Reserve units try to bless as many children as possible with this program. You may also see the Toys for Teens program at Best Buy which is a special partnership between Best Buy and the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program which collects toys for the older kids. (I just wanted to mention this as several people have asked in the past if this was a legitimate program.)
Through Jan. 31, for every Mrs. Smith’s pie purchased, the makers of Mrs. Smith’s desserts will donate $1 ( up to a total of $35,000) to Operation Homefront, the national non-profit dedicated to providing emergency financial and other assistance to military families. The makers of Mrs. Smith’s desserts will also provide 5,200 holiday pies to Operation Homefront as part of the nonprofit’s annual Holiday Meals for Military program, which will distribute 5,200 full holiday meal kits to 17 locations nationwide.
The makers of Mrs. Smith’s and Edwards desserts are also giving consumers the opportunity to spread a little holiday cheer to their loved ones by sending an e-greeting card via their holiday microsite. Consumers can log onto www.holidaysmadememorable.com to choose from two e-card designs. With every e-card sent, both the sender and the recipient will receive up to two coupons for $1 off any Mrs. Smith’s or Edwards® whole pie.
Disclosure: No compensation was received for this post. Edwards and Mrs. Smith images were provided by the company as was some of the text. I support Toys for Tots and Operation Homefront, so I agreed to spread the word about the promotion. Operation Homefront and Toys for Tots images are copyrighted by their respective organizations.
