In the first 2 episodes of the Awesome Science series, we explored the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone. In the 3rd episode, Noah Justice takes us along to Arizona as he explores Meteor Crater and Petrified Forest. Both of these locations are on our “want to see” list while we’re stationed here in Arizona. We have a little bit of petrified wood which is quite cool, so the idea of seeing the petrified wood on a grand scale is rather intriguing.
In Explore Meteor Crater and Petrified Forest with Noah Justice, Noah continues with his educational and entertaining presentation style as he compares the evolutionary views of Meteor Crater, dinosaur extinction, and the Petrified forest with the Biblical worldview of the same events. As Noah puts it, we’re looking at the evidence through Biblical worldview glasses and evolutionary glasses. The video is a wonderful production with beautiful scenes and solid sound. Noah’s Dad, Kyle Justice, who produced the video has had his work featured on networks such as National Geographic and the Outdoor Channel. As a homeschool family, the Justices have gotten the whole family involved in the production of this series.
Most science videos have adults teaching the students, so it’s fun to see a quality nature/science video presented by a kid (teen) to kids (teens). Even though the videos have been done in a kid-friendly format, people of all ages will enjoy the videos. We enjoy watching the videos as a family.
- Millions of acres of petrified forests were created during the Flood
- A large meteor is not responsible for killing off the dinosaurs
- Meteor Crater was instrumental in recognizing other craters around the world.
Viewers are encouraged to continually check scripture to make sure that the information being presented is Biblical.
The video has an available study guide which includes bonus activities, key words and concepts, fill in the blank questions, true and false questions, and a discussion guide for the various segments within the video. The study guides help viewers get the most out of the videos. The suggested bonus activities will allow viewers to dig deeper into the topics being presented. I highly recommend adding the study guide for a more in-depth study of Meteor Crater and Petrified Forest.
When watching the video, you’ll want to make sure you check out the bloopers as they are rather amusing.
