Lately, we’ve been hearing a good bit about the battle of the worldviews. There is a struggle between those who believe in the religion of creation and the religion of evolution. (Yes, evolution is a religion, a belief, as it can’t be proven with observational science.) Many science texts state that evolution is a fact when it is not. The truth is that this battle of the worldviews is a very controversial and touchy subject for many people. Because it’s such a hot topic, I feel it’s important for Christian kids to understand both evolution and creation, so they can be knowledgeable on the issues being discussed. This is definitely an area where knowledge can most definitely be power.
Building Blocks in Life Science tackles the tough subjects such as:
- Darwin (evolution) vs Design (creation)
- Patterns in Structure and Development – Life before birth (creation, evolution, and the embryo)
- DNA and the Origin of Life
Each of these units further breaks down into in-depth studies into the topics. This is not a book that is a quick read. It makes the reader think about the issues. Time is needed to truly digest the material being presented. While it’s not overly technical, there is a good bit of scientific information presented throughout the text.
At the end of the sections within the units, a “building inspection” (quiz) is given to help the reader solidify the information in her mind. Prior to the “building inspection”, the “form your foundation” paragraph gives an information paragraph to help build a solid foundation for the reader’s belief system.
After reading Building Blocks in Life Science, the reader can walk away with a better understanding of why science and the Bible to not conflict. Each building block points toward the truth of scripture and the errors of evolution.
Building Blocks in Life Science is geared towards high school level students and above.
