High School Math with ALEKS

Posted in Reviews

ALEKS is an online math program that covers courses from elementary to college. You can watch this little overview video to give you a glimpse into how ALEKS works. The homeschool parent is given control over their child’s account through the master account. In the master account, parents are able to assign quizzes (automatically generated based upon course work or specialized by the parent), change courses, view progress and class attendance, and much more. In addition to the master account, parents receive weekly email updates on their child’s progress. One of my favorite things about ALEKS is the immediate feedback and…

Project Maize & Blue: Tailgate Repair

Posted in Family, and In the Garage

One of the first things we did when Munchkin got her truck was to strip out the inside. It was a painstaking job, but it will be worth it in the end. Once everything was removed from the interior, Munchkin painted on the Dupli-Color bed armor. She chose to do this instead of redoing the carpet. She felt it would be more durable and easier to keep clean. Daddy has been teaching Munchkin some of the finer points of stripping off paint and grinding off rough spots as they prepared the tailgate for the primer and first coat of paint.…

Gluten Free Cinnamon Sugar Chips

Posted in Gluten Free, Homemaking, and Photography

What do you do when the corn tortillas are past their prime, but they are still good? Well, you slice them up into wedges using a pizza cutter and fry them in coconut oil for a minute or two until they are  crispy.  They you place them in a paper bag that has a coconut sugar and cinnamon mixture and give it a good shake to coat the chips. Yum! If you want to make them a little extra special, use some homemade vanilla sugar in your cinnamon sugar mix. These taste really good served with fresh fruit salsa as…

Movie Night with Redbox Giveaway

Posted in Commercial Break

RedboxAs you probably already know, we enjoy the convenience of being able to pick up a Redbox movie either at home or on the road. If you want to make sure that you get that new release when it first comes to Redbox, you may need to do an online reservation. The one drawback with that is that you normally can’t use the coupon codes that they offer via the monthly text messages or as surprises/thank yous here and there. Reserving online saves you a little money if you’re serving a dvd, but blu-ray rental (which we prefer) is the same online or at the kiosk. We tend to just check on our phones using the Redbox app to see if a movie is available and then pick it up.

Currently, Redbox is running the Movie Awards Game promotion on facebook which gives you the opportunity to win free one-day dvd rentals for 3 years. The promotion will be ending February 26, 2012, so head on over and make your picks for the Academy Awards to see if you can win 3 years worth of one-day dvd rentals.

I’m also able to offer a coupon code for a free one-night dvd rental to 3 of my readers. Rafflecopter giveaway open to anyone who has access to Redbox and ends 2/16.
