Over the last year, we’ve watched Munchkin’s focus slowly shift from dinosaurs and paleontology to horses. She liked the idea of being a paleontologist, but the reality wasn’t something that she truly wanted to try to do. With horses, she definitely likes the idea of working with horses. She also dreams of rescuing horses and working with horse therapy for kids. We thought it would be nice if she could actually get some hands on time with this to see if it was just the idea that she likes or if she really does like the reality as well, but we didn’t see this happening in the near future. We planned on just focusing on the learning aspect through books and what not for now.
Last week, as I was searching for a less expensive source of Timothy hay for our guinea pigs on craigs list, I stumbled across an ad for a stable that was looking for volunteers. I decided to hop over to their website to see what it was all about. As the web page pulled up, I couldn’t believe what I was looking at. The stable was a therapy stable; they used the horses (as well as other animals) to help individuals with special needs. This was just what Munchkin wanted to do. I showed Munchkin and brought it up to D.
Today, Daddy suggested that we headed over to the stables to check it out and talk to them. We wanted to learn more about the volunteer opportunity and see if Munchkin would be able to volunteer there. When we pulled up, we were in for a big surprise. The owner/operator was one of Munchkin’s former Awana teachers. She immediately recognized Munchkin and gave a her a big hug. We were given a grand tour of the whole operation as well as the necessary paperwork to look over.
The Lord’s hand was definitely in all of this. He was establishing our steps – guiding Munchkin’s steps. It was amazing to see Him at work, once again, in our lives. We’re still making some decisions on the specifics of the whole thing, but Munchkin will soon begin volunteering at the horse stables. She will start at the bottom – mucking out stalls and work her way through the different jobs. In time, if she proves herself responsible, she will be given the privilege of riding lessons as reward for her volunteer time. It will be hard work, but it will give her the opportunity to test out this new path on which she has started to travel.
That is awesome!

That is a wonderful story. Often, what we dismiss as coincidence or serendipity is really the divine hand of the creator guiding us towards our greatest good:)
I think that is wonderful that she wants to be a horse therapist.
Whoa! That is fantastic. Hooray!
Beautiful! It is a blessing to read of how God is directing your steps, and how this fit into your daughter’s dream.
