We were blessed to be able to attend the Arizona Homeschool Convention while our family was here to visit. Munchkin was a little torn on what to do as she really wanted to hear Ken Ham speak in person, but she also very much wanted to spend time with her cousins and aunt and uncle. In the end, hanging out with her cousins won out. **grin** Grandpa and Grandpa joined D and I at the convention.
Since we didn’t want to miss any of Ken Ham’s sessions, we ended up just ordering the mp3s for the rest of the sessions. You see, Ken spoke for pretty much every session time slot for 2 days. The one time slot that was open on Friday allowed us to happily visit the vendor hall. I put in an order for our Institute for Excellence in Writing curriculum for this year. We also ordered the new Foundations curriculum from Answers in Genesis. We picked up some books, signed by the author, for Munchkin and her cousins.
While we were at the convention, Munchkin enjoyed some quality time with her cousins. They did some swimming, saw a movie, went out to eat, and just have some good old fashioned fun. Needless to say, she had a blast. Sadly, she woke up the 2nd day not feeling very well. Thankfully, they all were able to just hang out and rest for the morning. By the afternoon, Munchkin was feeling well enough to start having some fun again. I do believe there was a little Wii playing that came into the mix that day.
We walked away from the convention feeling refreshed, renewed, and motivated for the upcoming year of teaching.
Today, we started back up with our homeschool after having a month off. It moved a little slower than normal, but overall, it went well. I was able to get a few things done that should help things flow a little better as the year progresses. I feel more focused after the month off as well as the motivational speaking at the convention. I look forward to receiving our new materials as well as listening to more of the speakers from the convention.
I'm proudly married to my best friend, an active duty US Marine. I'm happily taking care of our homestead and our ever growing entourage of animals. I enjoy writing, reading, cooking, crafting, diy projects, and various outdoor activities. It's all about enjoying the journey of life with my family.
These cousins don’t homeschool (my sister’s two girls), but some of D’s family did homeschool up until this coming year. We’re grateful to have very supportive families when it comes to homeschooling.
