Fit Mommy Friday: Challenge Week 1

Posted in Fitness

Fit Mommy FridayI had a pretty good week when it came to my challenge goals.  I was surprised by the fact that eating enough veggies was the one thing that I really had to try to get done this week.  I love veggies – all kinds, so it was puzzling that I struggled with getting enough veggies each day.  Then again, it could have something to do with the fact that we’ve been enjoying more fruit (kiwi, strawberries, seedless oranges) this week.

Overall, I’ve cut down on sweets, but I did have cheesecake twice this week.  I made a healthier version of gluten free cheesecake for my birthday on Tuesday, so I enjoyed cheesecake on both Tuesday and Wednesday.  Thankfully, D loves the cheesecake, so he was happy to help me out by eating lots of it. lol!!

I started drinking more water this week.  As long as I staggered the water drinking throughout the day, I felt fine.  (Drinking too much water at once makes me feel ill.)  I was also able to limit my Dr. Pepper intake to 2 cans this week.  D was so proud of me.  **grin**  While the Dr. Pepper thing isn’t one of my actual goals, it felt good to be able to do that.

On Monday, I started back into my exercise routine.  It feels nice to be back to working out with the Wii.  Monday – Wednesday, I used Wii Fit and/or Wii Your Shape for exercising.  I decided to focus on my core as those muscles are weak, and need to be strengthened.  (Other muscles are also weak, but the core is my main focus right now.)  Thursday, I wasn’t feeling that great, so I didn’t do any specific exercises.  Today, I’ll be back to the Wii.  I think the day off yesterday was actually a good thing as I was rather sore from the previous exercise days. lol!

I’ve been very mindful of my time at the computer.  Taking the 10 minute breaks (at least) after each 30 minutes on the computer is really helping with eye strain and getting me moving more.

I’ve also been able to get to bed at a decent hour – well, for me that is.  I’ve had the computer turned off and lights out by midnight on most nights.  Last night was the only night that I almost missed my self-imposed bedtime.  Due to our internet being out during the day, I hopped on the computer when it came back up at 11:00 pm to try to get a few things done (including a review that was due today).  I did get the lights and computer off by 12:30, so it was still before my deadline.

Now, I just need to keep this going….

  2. Great job this week! I thought when we got the Wii I would be working out with it a lot, but every time I want to, my daughter wants to play too, so I never get a good workout in. PS. Diet Dr Pepper is my favorite!

  4. Cheescake … mmmm, my favorite. That would have been hard to resist. Oh and 2 cans a WEEK! That’s HUGE (at least for me) and something to be oh so proud of. Oh and I am glad to know that I’m not the only mom who’s up past midnight most nights. I know it’s bad, but I’m a night owl not an early bird. Good job!

  6. You are doing great. How terrific that you were able to make a “healthy” version of cheesecake. These are one of those desserts that are a “no-no” for me.

  7. Great job! I bet working out on the Wii is fun. I have thought about getting it for that, but I don’t want the kids playing on it all the time, so I haven’t ever gotten it.
    Good job this week.

  8. You’re doing really well. I need to remember your computer tip and get up more frequently when I’m working on the computer. But you better keep that cheesecake far, far from me! I never met a cheesecake I didn’t like! 😉

  9. Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about!! 😉 What a great first week! Sore muscles are such a drag, aren’t they? LOL But it’s definitely a “good” pain. I don’t like not being able to sit without wincing, but I love the results! 😉

Keep up the fabulous work! See you next week!

  10. I need to do the computer breaks!! It sounds like you had a good week — limiting the Dr. Pepper, wow, great job! I know. One of my big struggles this week was giving up Mountain Dew. I need to save the money, and I definitely need to save the calories.
