First of all, I want to thank you for your prayers for our travel safety. We really appreciated it. We left earlier than planned due to a winter storm rolling in… As we drove, we saw many salt/plow trucks waiting for the big storm, but our weather was good (minus a little rain and a few snow flurries). We arrived before the big storm hit.
We had the pleasure of celebrating my niece’s 2nd birthday while there. This was fun as we usually don’t get to go to birthday parties for our family members.
We went for a fun light display in a wagon. It was freezing cold, so we had to bundle up under blankets. When we returned, they lead us over to live reindeer. An Elf read us a Christmas story. Then, it was off to have hot cider and donuts.
Munchkin really enjoyed playing in the snow with her cousin and uncle. They had fun sledding, making snow angels, and just having a good time. This was a dry snowfall, so no snowmen this time.
The day after my sister’s surgery, Grandma and I took the kids to get their pictures taken together. That turned out to be an experience in and of itself. My little niece did not like the first photographer, so we didn’t think that we would be getting any good pictures of them together. In the end (with a different photographer), we ended up with some good pictures.
Out to Grandma and Grandpa’s house we went. We did some baking, had some fun, and built some gingerbread houses.
Our 1st Christmas celebration was at Great G’ma and Great G’pa’s house. The offered more to eat than anyone could possibly need. We all ate our fill and then some. Presents were opened and a good time was had by all.
The next day was Sunday. We headed to Grandma and Grandpa’s church. Munchkin ended up joining in on the children’s Christmas program. She even had a speaking part. That was quite surprising, but enjoyable. That evening, we went to church at my sister’s church. I thought I was just going to watch my niece’s perform in their children’s Christmas program, but Munchkin decided to join in again.
Our 2nd Christmas celebration was on Christmas Eve with my parents. By this point, my sister was out of the hospital, but she wasn’t feeling that great. So, Christmas was brought to her.
Christmas morning came and we surprised the kids will the stockings hung by the chimney and lots of presents. One of the cute things of the day was the 2 dogs tuckered out and enjoyed a snooze together. Unfortunately, both my sister and Munchkin were sick on Christmas day. So, we were unable to head out to dh’s side of the family that day.
A few days later (after Munchkin was feeling better), we headed to the Creation Museum. I’ll write more about that in the next post. When we returned from there, we headed over to see dh’s side of the family. We had a good time just chatting and spending time together. The kids had fun playing and opening a few presents. The next day, we got a little shopping in with the gift cards that were received from Christmas. Munchkin got an opportunity to spend more time with her cousin that’s the same age as well.
New Year’s Day was spent playing in the snow from the second snow storm and watching the bowl game. Go Blue!!
Can you believe 3 weeks passed by? Well, it was time to head home. We were blessed, once again, with wonderful traveling weather. There was suppose to be horrible weather and there were lots of salt/plow trucks out, but we made it home without an issue.
That is a very brief rundown of our time away.
what a wonderful time you had
Im pleased
