Having pets is not frugal by any means. So, for those of us that love animals, we have to come up with ways to make pet ownership a bit less expensive. Pet bedding can get very expensive — especially when you have to change it at least once a week. I purchased a paper shredder several years ago and shred all the junk mail that comes in the mail. Since a more concrete recipe for my spaghetti sauce was requested… Here’s a rough estimate of what my recipe looks like: Ingredients: 2 can tomato sauce/paste1 can diced tomatoes1 onion1 green pepper2 cloves of garlicItalian seasoning, salt, pepper to taste2 Tbsp brown sugar Directions: 1. Empty cans into large pot and turn heat on low2. Saute onions and green pepper in butter and olive oil until onions are translucent. Add garlic towards the end.3. House Update

I am sitting here in surprise, wonderful surprise as I type this post. I just received a call from the lawyer’s office (for the closing on the house). They quoted me the new closing cost figure. The Lord is blessing us as the final closing costs are lower than the good faith estimate now. I don’t know how it happened, but I’m praising Him. I can’t get a hold of D as he’s not available during the day (which is why him calling yesterday was really a blessing). So, he doesn’t even know yet. We’ll be doing the final walk-through…

Thankful Thursday: Difficulty

This week I’m focusing on being thankful when things are not going smoothly. It’s easy to be thankful when things are going great, but it’s much more difficult to be joyful when life has given you lemons. Wednesday, I called to find out the closing costs on the new house (we close on Friday). We had been given a good faith estimate, so we made sure we had set aside that amount plus a little bit more just in case.
