Snow Day, Sick Day

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

How do you combine a nice snowfall, a child that wants to play in the snow (even with a layer of ice on it), and a sick Mommy? Well, when your little one comes in bright eyed and bushy-tailed, fully dressed first thing in the morning, you know that you’re in for an interesting day. Especially when all you want to do is pull the cover over your head and fall back asleep. Alas, that wasn’t going to happen. I crawled out of bed and made her breakfast. Immediately after breakfast, she bundled up and headed outside. I got dressed…

It’s Snowing

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

We actually have a pretty good snow coming down. Little Song Bird is eager to be able to go out and play. There’s not enough for a snowman or anything yet, but she’s still excited. Since she’s still recovering from being sick, I told her that she needs to wait until there’s more snow on the ground. I’m not going to forbid her to out and play in the snow since we get it so infrequently. Currently, she’s bouncing off the walls. I, on the other hand, am now sick in bed with what she had. Yuck! Hopefully, it will…

BRRR! It’s cold outside!

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m very grateful that we’re not getting the horrible weather that had hit other areas in the country, but it’s really cold out. Ok, so it’s really cold for Virginia! They’re currently running a 75% off all yellow tags sale. There are a lot of things with yellow tags that I wanted to see if…

Why Devildogwife?

Posted in Military Life

Several people have questioned why I would use the Devil in my name. I have to giggle a bit as I can see how it might be misconstrued for those outside the military. Here’s a brief history from Wikipedia encyclopedia. “During the course of World War I the Marines took over a village just northwest of Chateau-Thierry, France, Belleau Wood. The courtyard contained decorations of devildogs and was eventually utilized as the area headquarters. In the course of a three week battle, the Marines lost control and quickly regained the village from the Germans. As a result of the fierce…

Frugal Friday — Curtains

Posted in Thrifty Ideas

Over at Biblical Womanhood, they have a fun thing called Frugal Fridays. I love all the links to the different blogs with all of the creative ways to be frugal. This week the theme is curtains, so I thought I’d participate for the first time. Here’s a picture of the curtains that I made for our “classroom”. My daughter wanted a safari type them, so I went all out. The curtains are very simple to make. There are just 4 panel curtains — just do a simple hem on the bottom and sides (if necessary, I just left the salvaged…
