How do you combine a nice snowfall, a child that wants to play in the snow (even with a layer of ice on it), and a sick Mommy? Well, when your little one comes in bright eyed and bushy-tailed, fully dressed first thing in the morning, you know that you’re in for an interesting day. Especially when all you want to do is pull the cover over your head and fall back asleep. Alas, that wasn’t going to happen.
I crawled out of bed and made her breakfast. Immediately after breakfast, she bundled up and headed outside. I got dressed and watched her through the window while cuddled up in a chair under a blanket. Did I mention that I really feel lousy? Well, knowing that I have to get to the bank and the post office, I get things together to head out. Once she comes in and takes off her snow gear, we head out. We also remember that we need to get the guinea pigs some hay. So we grab that while we’re out since that store is right next to the bank.
We’re homeward bound. She’s hungry again, so I make her some lunch. Now, we’re suppose to have school today as she was off last week due to being ill, but she wants to play in the snow and I want to rest. While eating lunch, I start a fire in the fireplace and we enjoy the warmth from the fire. She quickly finishes her lunch and heads back outside. Bear has fun keeping her company outside. I cuddle up in the chair by the fire with a blanket and read while keeping an eye on her. She’s having a blast. Later, she heads in as her toes are freezing.
After warming up by the fire, she decides to head upstairs and play Liberty Kids on her computer. I take the opportunity to take a nap. She has fun telling me bits of history that she’s learning through the game. If you’ve never watched Liberty’s Kids on t.v., it’s a great kids history cartoon that airs on PBS. She’s learned a lot from the show, so when I saw the computer game, I knew she’d enjoy it.
Thankfully, D made it home early today, so I didn’t have to take her over to gymnastics tonight. I’m able to just rest this evening which is a real blessing. Even though I’m sick, we ended up having a pretty good snow day.
