Dinosaurs on the Move Review

Dinosaurs on the MoveDinosaurs on the Move
by Cathy Diez-Luckie

Dinosaurs on the Move is a collection of movable paper dinosaur figures.  Children (or adults) cut out the figures and assemble them.  The dinosaurs included in this collection are: Allosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Baryonyx, Brachiosaurus, Ouranosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Pteranodon, Stegosaurus, Tricertops, and Tyrannosaurus Rex.  Each dinosaur has a full color version and a version that can be colored prior to assembly.  The dinosaur cut-outs are printed on durable wood free card stock.

The book also contains a Dinosauria (a dinosaur encyclopedia) with dinosaur facts for each dinosaur in the collection.  One of the unique features in this book is that it can be used by Creationists or Evolutionists because it contains no timeline/time periods.

When Dinosaurs on the Move arrived, Munchkin said, “Cool!!” and immediately set off to start cutting out one of the dinosaurs.  She said that she would have liked it better if they were punch-out figures, but she didn’t mind cutting them out since they were so cool.  After Munchkin had all of the pieces cut out, she turned them over so she could match up the letters for assembly.  I showed her how to attach the small brads (we used small scrapbook brads), and she finished the assembly.

After Munchkin had finished 2 dinosaurs, the play could begin.  She also had to show her new, cool dinosaurs to her friends.  They also thought they were really neat.  Munchkin continues to slowly cut out and piece together the different dinosaurs.  She is currently working on coloring her own dinosaur.  Munchkin has had lots of fun with these figures, and they’re sure to provide many more hours of play for her.  The compact storage is a nice plus as they fold up for convenient storage.  (Munchkin keeps them in her night stand.)

If you have a dinosaur lover in your home, I highly recommend this book.
