Review: TenMarks

TenMarks is a great homeschool math solution as a curriculum or a supplement to your current curriculum. Each program is personalized and mapped to state standards. Students work at their own pace with hints and video lessons. Instant Feedback Tailored to Each Child Reward System Munchkin was excited that she would have the opportunity to work on her geometry in a different format. She would receive instant feedback for her work, and she would receive helps as needed. Each week, Munchkin was assigned four worksheets. She would log onto her account to work on them. Review: Wits and Wagers Family

North Star Games say that they have games with personality. They want to bring friends and families together with fun, innovative party and family games. It’s no secret around out house that I am not a big game person (other than Wii games), but both D and Munchkin love to play board games.  Because I love them, I try to join in on the fun.  Every now and then, a game comes along that makes it a bit easier to join in on their crazy fun…. As soon as Wits and Wagers Family arrived, Munchkin took it out of the…

The Write Foundation Review

Munchkin is great in many different areas of academics, but writing is not one of those areas.  She’s very creative and has no problem coming up with very imaginative stories.  She can tell quite the tale verbally, but when it comes to the mechanics of writing everything down properly, she falters.  She wants to be able to adequately write down her creative writings, so she gets frustrated with her lack of natural ability in this area. I looked forward to receiving Level 2 – Paragraph Writing from The Write Foundation.  After looking at the website, I thought that this would…

Collectorz: Book Database Software Keeping track of all of your books just got a lot easier.  I’ve been guilty of purchasing the same book twice when I didn’t remember that we already had the book.  You see, I’m a book junky.  We have bookcases all over the place in our house.  The movers?  Well, they hate us due to the large number of books they get to move for us.  Now, to be fair, D and I have moved all of those books ourselves, so we do know what we’re asking of them.  **grin** Needless to say, I was rather…

Having Fun with Yuck!!!

Let me introduce you to some fun play with polymers.  What’s a polymer?  Well, that’s one of the things that we learned about when we started our experiments with our 4 types of Yuck from Buckets-O-Fun! Polymers are very large molecules formed by repeated patterns of chemical units strung together. Yuck is an acrylic polymer.  We had the chance to test out the four types of Yuck: Chunky (like ice cubes) Saucy (like applesauce) Sticky (um, like snot) Snowy (like light, bubbly snow) The samples we received came in four little labeled baggies.  The saucy, sticky, and snowy Yuck looked…
