Animals of the Desert

Posted in Family, Outdoor Adventures, and Photography

Project 365 – #200 We’ve lived here over 2 years now, and we’ve seen some wildlife here and there during our exploration.  Most often, very little is seen while we’re out exploring.  Over the 4th of July, we were blessed with being able to see an abundant number of animals and birds while we were out driving.  We saw 2 different herds of big horn sheep, multiple herds of wild burros, jack rabbits, bunnies, desert fox, chipmunks, lizards, various birds including an owl, and various other little critters.  We were amazed to say the least.  I was able to capture…

Senator’s Wash

Project 365 – #115 D wanted to head out for one last dirt bike ride before his surgery.  It’s going to be at least 6 months before he can ride again.  Even then, he’ll have to be very careful and selective about the areas in which he rides.  Riding is relaxing for him, so he’ll definitely miss our weekend exploration trips. Munchkin really wanted to use these last few days to spend some quality time with Daddy.  She’s been wanting to go fishing with him for some time.  (Funny side note… We picked up a new tackle box for Munchkin…

Driving through Kofa

Project 365 – #102 On Saturday, we headed over to Kofa National Wildlife Refuge.  We wanted to do a little exploring in some of the areas where we hadn’t gone previously.  We’re trying to fit in a few more fun family outings before D’s surgery right after Easter. We had fun taking pictures and just looking at all of the beautiful scenery. The gorgeous fluffy white clouds against the brilliant blue skies were breath-taking. We even saw some interesting clouds.  We thought this one looked like a funny face.  What do you think?

A Sunday Drive

Project 365 – #101 On Sunday afternoon, we decided to go out for a nice drive.  Our first destination plan was Martinez Lake as we had never headed over there.  Upon arrival, we decided that we would just keep on going to the Imperial National Wildlife Refuge instead.  We were a little disappointed that the visitor center wasn’t open.  (Apparently, it’s closed on the weekends after March 31st.)  The disappointment didn’t last long as we found a beautiful picnic area right by the water. The breeze coming off the water mixed with the warm air to create a pleasant environment…

Exploring Bulldog Canyon Day 2

Posted in Family, Outdoor Adventures, and Photography

Day 2 of exploring Bulldog Canyon was filled with fun, dust, and lots of rocks and boulders.  It’s sad to see our time of off-roading with Grandma and Grandpa coming to an end.  We were thrilled to have this time together.  We saw so much gorgeous scenery while we were out riding.  A couple of crazy spills later, D is a bit sore, but he doesn’t regret a minute of it as we had a blast.
