Gone Camping for the Weekend

Posted in Family

We’re heading out to the desert to camp for the weekend.  We’re taking the travel trailer this time.  We’ll only have the water that we take with us.  We will be taking a generator with us, so we can cool off the trailer as needed.  For the most part, we’ll be unplugged and enjoying the great outdoors. Munchkin and D will be riding their dirt bikes.  We’ll do some exploring.  I’ll do some reading.  We’ll relax, play some games, goof around, and just have a fun weekend. I have some posts scheduled, but I’ll be away from the computer. I…

Baby Bird Update

Posted in Photography

We looked into the nest and this is what we saw.  Both the Momma Bird and Papa Bird were sitting on the baby birds.  It looked rather funny to see the Momma and Papa sitting on the little babies that look so large.  Guess these birds really look after their young. I’m sure one day soon we will wake up to see all of our feathered friends gone.  For now, it’s fun to see how quickly these little babies are growing up. *******Edited for Final Update******** This morning, I went out to check on our feathered friends and found an…

Baby Birds

I heard squeals coming from outside. The front door flew open. “Momma, Momma… you can… come see… outside.”  I tell Munchkin to slow down and repeat what she is saying.  At first, I thought something bad had happened, but I quickly realized that she was super excited. The momma bird was off the nest, and they could see the babies.  She wanted me to grab the camera, so I could take pictures of the baby birds. These little chicks were peaking out from the nest.  Obviously, the momma bird has been sitting on these guys for a while as they…

Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament! Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness! Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp! Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes! Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord! ~Psalm 150~ Find more Word Filled Wednesday at 160 Acre Woods

End of Year Testing 2010

Posted in Homeschooling

Today is Munchkin’s end of year testing.  While we are not required by Arizona state law to perform the testing, we have chosen to do it anyway.  I am able to administer the test at home, so we don’t have to go anywhere for the actual test.  Munchkin seriously dislikes taking standardized tests, but I feel it’s important for her to get use to the concept. Right now, we’re taking a lunch break, so Munchkin is outside eating lunch with her friend.  (It’s so nice to have fellow homeschoolers who live next door.)  It’s an absolutely beautiful day, so I…
