Kernel Season’s Celebrates and Honors Military, Community and Personal Heroes During National Popcorn Month During the month of October – National Popcorn Month – Kernel Season will donate a case of popcorn seasoning to troops for every person who posts a photo on the Kernel Season Facebook wall. When I was approached by Kernel Seasoning to see if I would be willing to work with them to help promote their special “Support the Troops” program during National Popcorn Month, I immediately said yes as I like to support companies who support our troops. Wholly Heroes: Help Send Military Kids to Camp

Posted in Announcements, Commercial Break, and Reviews

September 16th is National Guacamole Day, but this year it’s not just about guacamole. Wholly Guacamole and author Brad Meltzer have teamed up to create a special t-shirt honoring our heroes with the goal of sending 100 military children to camp. You may know Brad Meltzer for his work with Ordinary People Change the World. He wanted to encourage kids to look past typical influences like sports figures and movie stars and be inspired by real heroes. Thankful for Air Conditioning

Posted in Family, and Military Life

We woke up to a very hot Monday morning, not unlike most mornings here in the desert of Arizona. Only, today it wasn’t just hot outside – the inside of the house felt warm too. While we were over in San Diego spending time with Grandma and Grandpa, we decided that we would visit the USS Midway. To make the trip even more fun, we hopped on the ferry in Coronado and road it over to San Diego. We explored the ship, learned a bit more about aircraft carriers, and enjoyed listening to the World War II veteran. We all agreed that we wouldn’t really care to live aboard the ship – too close quarters for us. 😉 Poor Daddy had to duck pretty much the whole time we were on board except when we…

World War II Veteran Allen Bodenlos

Posted in Military Life

Last week, we had the opportunity to listen to Allen Bodenlos, a World War II Veteran who was at Pearl Harbor during the fatal bombing by the Japanese on December 7th, 1941. He watched as the USS Arizona and USS Oklahoma sank into the depths of Pearl Harbor. We stood there and listened intently as he told us about the sailors and Marines who were trapped inside the ships with no chance to escape. He also told us stories of bravery and sacrifice as service members put the lives of others before their own. Some would make it out alive…
