You are my happily ever after

Posted in Family

Personal Creations provided this beautiful you are my happily ever after canvas to help D and I focus on our relationship this year. I hung it over our bed to provide a lovely visual reminder that we need and want to continue to work on our relationship every day. It’s hard to believe that D and I are coming up on 20 years of marriage this year. We were young – junior high young – when we met. We knew in high school that we were going to get married. What we didn’t really know at that point in time…

Marriage Monday: A Place of Rest

Posted in Christian Life, and Family

I’ve been giving a lot of thought lately into what makes a marriage work.  Obviously, marriage is not easy, and a healthy marriage doesn’t just happen.  We have to work at it every day, fight for it, never grow complacent. One of the simplest things we can do as wives is make sure our homes are a place of peace, rest, comfort for our entire family – especially our spouse.  Does my home welcome my husband?  Does he look forward to walking through the door after a hard day of work?  If not, what can I do to change…

Marriage Monday

Can I just say that it’s a bit hard to have a lot to talk about with my marriage when my hubby is in another state? But, I’m doing what I can to make his life easier. We laughed as he got ready to leave on Sunday to head back down to his unit. I had made lots of bread and goodies for him. Plus, we had gone shopping for gluten-free food that was easy for him to prepare. I also made him yummy gluten-free lasagna to take with him to heat up later. Anyway, he had several bags of…

Marriage Monday: Honor Your Husband Challenge Conclusion

Posted in Christian Life

I truly enjoyed this challenge, but little did I know when I started this challenge that the final week of the challenge would be so difficult. Finding out your spouse is deploying really causes one to think about what’s important. Christine talks about how no marriage is perfect, and she’s right. It’s impossible for two imperfect people to create a perfect marriage. We do not live in a sinless world. Thankfully, God gives us a wonderful guidebook – the Bible – to help as we strive to live our lives to please Him. What did the Bible say about what…

Marriage Monday: Challenge Week 4

Posted in Christian Life

Whew! This week has been an interesting week for us around the house. D had to head into work the morning of the 4th of July. He ended up in the Major’s office to be informed that he might be deployed, so when he arrived home he gave me the news. We in turn told Munchkin what might be in the future (yes, this is what works best for her; she doesn’t handle these types of “surprises” well.). We found out late on Friday that he is indeed deploying. He leaves shortly to start his work-ups before he actually deploys.…
