Shark Lapbook

Posted in Homeschooling

We’ve had a lot of fun with our Shark Lapbook this week. We’ve read books and watched the Shark Week shows on Discovery Channel. She’s played shark games, colored shark pictures, and played creatively with her shark stuffed animal. We discovered a book that she says she must have as it has amazing pictures and is stuffed full of information: Sharks of the World. So, I just need to find a good price on it. lol! The center has shark fact files and a matching game that I made from information from the fact files. The shark jaw that says…

Chemistry Lapbook

Posted in Homeschooling

We just wrapped up our Introduction to Chemistry lapbook from Hands of a Child today. We’ll be continuing our study of the periodic table and elements in another lapbook this week. Munchkin and I designed the cover image using my Printmaster program. We’re going to be wrapping up some of the experiments included with this unit on Friday. Invisible ink is always a fun experiment!! One thing that we both learned during this unit was the Ph stands for the power of hydrogen. It’s funny how little things like that can stand out.

Multiplication Pizza Party Lapbook

Posted in Homeschooling

We needed a fun way to really get the multiplication facts down pat without having to do repetitive drills, so we decided to go with a lapbook as Munchkin enjoys them. I found a fun one at Hands of a Child, and made some additions to make it work a little better for us. She’s slowly working through this lapbook by doing a few activities each day. I made some bread sticks that contained multiplication facts. I also did some blank ones for Munchkin to make up some of her own problems. I also made up some times table charts…

Animal Life Cycle Lapbook

Posted in Homeschooling

We took a short break from our regular studies to do a mini study on animal life cycles. Once again, we used a lapbook from Hands of a Child. For the cover, we collected images from the internet and then put a verse at the bottom. Munchkin decided that she wanted to add more life cycle booklets to the lapbook, so we made up more booklets. The lapbook comes with a booklet for observing the frog life cycle. Munchkin’s least favorite part of this lapbook was the mini book on decomposition. She says that part is just gross!

Human Body Lapbook

Posted in Homeschooling

We completed the human body lapbook by Hands of a Child today. Munchkin says that there is still a little more coloring to do, but she’ll finish it up later. **grin** This was a fun lapbook to work on. We pulled the cover image from the web, and I put the verse on the bottom using a photo editing program. We are fearfully and wonderfully made… We added a few books from activities that we found at Kids Health. (Note: Some families may find certain content on this site objectionable, so I encourage parents to check out the site first.)…
