Times Alive! Review

Times Alive! by City Creek Press Wouldn’t it be nice if kids could easily learn their multiplication facts? If they could have fun while they were learning? If they could enjoy the learning process so much that they want to do more work that has been assigned? Times Alive! helps kids easily learn their multiplication facts in a fun interactive way on the computer. At first, Munchkin didn’t know if she was going to like this program as it looked to “kiddish”, but she quickly found herself enjoying the program. Before we knew it, she had done many lessons. TenMarks is a great homeschool math solution as a curriculum or a supplement to your current curriculum. Each program is personalized and mapped to state standards. Students work at their own pace with hints and video lessons. Instant Feedback Tailored to Each Child Reward System Munchkin was excited that she would have the opportunity to work on her geometry in a different format. She would receive instant feedback for her work, and she would receive helps as needed. Each week, Munchkin was assigned four worksheets. She would log onto her account to work on them. Each worksheet had a video…

Editor In Chief B1 Grades 6-8 Editor in Chief by Critical Thinking Press is an excellent resource to help students become better writers and self editors.  Students learn how to identify and correct grammatical errors, writing mechanics errors, and usage errors.  They have to really think while they are reading the short stories as not all errors jump up from the page. We received the B1 level of Editor in Chief which is geared towards students in grades 6-8.  For the first few stories, I walked through the process with Munchkin.  Grammar and writing are not her strongest subjects, so…

The Write Foundation Review

I looked forward to receiving Level 2 – Paragraph Writing from The Write Foundation.  After looking at the website, I thought that this would…

Having Fun with Yuck!!!

Let me introduce you to some fun play with polymers.  What’s a polymer?  Well, that’s one of the things that we learned about when we started our experiments with our 4 types of Yuck from Buckets-O-Fun! Polymers are very large molecules formed by repeated patterns of chemical units strung together. Yuck is an acrylic polymer.  We had the chance to test out the four types of Yuck: Chunky (like ice cubes) Saucy (like applesauce) Sticky (um, like snot) Snowy (like light, bubbly snow) The samples we received came in four little labeled baggies.  The saucy, sticky, and snowy Yuck looked…
