Everything Bagel Spice Review

Posted in Gluten Free, Photography, and Reviews

We’ve been enjoying a new to us seasoning called Bagel Spice.  It comes in 3 delicious varieties: original, sea salt flakes, and zesty jalapeno.  If you’ve ever had an everything bagel, then you have some idea of what is in these savory seasoning blends.  The Bagel Spice seasoning blends are kosher and free of msg and preservatives. I admit that everything bagels are one of my favorite bagels – well, they were prior to going gluten free.  I’m still in search of the “perfect” gluten free everything bagel.  When I heard about this seasoning, I was instantly intrigued and knew…

Tropical Traditions Coconut Cream Giveaway

Posted in Gluten Free, and Reviews

Coconut Cream Concentrate is pure organic coconut meat that is finely ground into a creamy consistency.  Unlike many of the other Tropical Traditions coconut oil products, the coconut cream concentrate is a food rather than a cooking oil.  You can use it in baked goods, in smoothies, or just smear it on some toast.  You can even make your own coconut milk! My favorite way to enjoy it?  Definitely smeared on some gluten free toast or a gluten free bagel.  Absolutely delicious.  It melts into the nooks and crannies and provides a yummy flavor.  It would be great for those…

Crunchy N Yummy Giveaway

Posted in Gluten Free, and Reviews

Can I let you in on a little secret?  I really like crunchy snacks.  There is just something satisfying about crunching on a yummy treat when I’m hungry.  Unfortunately, all too many crunchy snacks aren’t that good for me, so I either have to sacrifice flavor or crunchy snacking.  (Obviously, there are some good healthy, crunchy snacks such as apples and carrots which are regular snacks around our house.) When I was asked if I would like to try out Crunchy N Yummy snacks, I jumped at the opportunity.  After all, they were certified organic, freeze-dried fruit!  These snacks sounded…

Gluten Free Review: Shabtai Gourmet

Posted in Gluten Free, and Reviews

When you go gluten free, there are certain foods that you miss.  We miss being able to pick up those individually packaged goodies that come in a box.  You know the ones that your mom may have packed in your school lunch?  Some foods, I haven’t found a good replacement for yet.  As much as I would like to make everything, it’s just not practical all of the time.  I’m so grateful for companies who are striving to make gluten free products taste good. Shabtai Gourmet produces their Gluten Free products in a dedicated gluten free facility.  Their products are…

Giveaway: Tropical Traditions Palm Oil

Posted in Photography, and Reviews

I have never used Virgin Palm Oil in my cooking, so I was surprised when I saw the orange color of the solid oil. It is reddish/orange due to a high concentration of carotenes and tocols. It also has a unique flavor. I probably wouldn’t use it in delicate baking items as it would throw off the flavor, but for cooking, it was perfect. It has a high melting point and is shelf stable. It also has no trans fatty acids. Since Virgin Palm Oil is stable at high temps, I decided to try it out a slightly different version…
