Hope Does Not Disappoint

Posted in Christian Life, Photography, and Thoughts

Project 365 – #233 …but we also exult in our tribulation, knowing that the tribulation brings about perseverence; and perseverence, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. ~Romans 5:3-5 As I was reading my Bible today, these verses jumped out at me.  It’s not always easy to see the silver lining when we’re dealing with tribulation in our lives.  We almost fear clinging on to hope as we may, once again, be let down, but…

Being Prepared to Share the Truth

Project 365 – #232 On Friday, D had a rare opportunity to discuss logic and the Bible with someone from work.  Due to some situations that were happening, they had a sit down to talk over various things and somehow the conversation took a turn towards logic, philosophy, and the Bible.  Because of the recent homeschool convention that we attended with Ken Ham and many of our family studies that we’ve been doing, the answers and logic were readily available to him.  Religious conversations in the military workplace have to be handled with caution, so it’s not often that he’s able…

Making Creation Our Classroom

Posted in Christian Life, Family, Homeschooling, Outdoor Adventures, and Photography

Project 365 – #231 As you can probably tell, we love to make the Lord’s Creation our classroom.  There is something wonderful about learning outdoors surrounded by the beauty and wonder of nature.  Often, we’ll research the area where we will be exploring prior to heading out – especially when we’re going somewhere like the Grand Canyon.  We try to have books and other research material available for reading.  Munchkin likes to carry a nature/wildlife guide with her, so she can look things up during our hikes. The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is…

It’s Time to Clear the Clutter

Posted in Homemaking

Project 365 – #230 These last two weeks, Munchkin and I have really been focusing on getting control of some of the clutter that has taken over different areas of our home.  The first thing to get tackled was the master bedroom closet.  This clutter battle spurred D to go through his old clothes and what not.  We ended up with several boxes/bags to donate.  (We won’t even discuss how many bags of trash left the house….)  Munchkin was motivated by our cleaning, so she’s been clearing out her room.  This is definitely a case of needing to win several…

Made for Me

Project 365 – #229 Growing up, I never imagined that I would be married to an active duty Marine.  That wasn’t even remotely on my radar.  I always thought that I’d live close to family, and that my kids would grow up with my sister’s kids.  We’d have that perfect little house, and my kiddos would grow up doing activities with extended family. Becoming friends with D back in junior high would change my life (for the better) forever.  Even then, he was gung ho Marine Corps.  He loved the idea of serving his country as a Marine.  He and…
