It’s Time to Clear the Clutter

These last two weeks, Munchkin and I have really been focusing on getting control of some of the clutter that has taken over different areas of our home.  The first thing to get tackled was the master bedroom closet.  This clutter battle spurred D to go through his old clothes and what not.  We ended up with several boxes/bags to donate.  (We won’t even discuss how many bags of trash left the house….)  Munchkin was motivated by our cleaning, so she’s been clearing out her room.  This is definitely a case of needing to win several battles before we can win the clutter war.  Tomorrow, we’ll be making a nice donation to Goodwill, and then we’ll continue on with our decluttering battles.

The not-back-to-school season seems to really motivate us to declutter and reorganize.  There is something nice about starting the new year with a fresh start all around.  Once I get the house under control, I’ll be able to focus more on really getting things organized in our homeschool classroom.  While we’ll never (at least not in the near future) have the perfectly clean and organized home, it will be nice to have things back to a more controlled state.  I figure we’ll get everything just like we want things around here right about the time that we learn where we’ll be moving to next. lol!

  1. What a great way to start the new (home) school year! Decluttering can be so cathartic and relaxing, at least for me. Can’t wait to read about what you’re going to tackle next. 🙂
