VBS & The Praying Mantis

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

On Friday, Munchkin had her VBS closing ceremony. Daddy was finally able to make it. Somehow, he has always been gone for VBS in the past, so it was a treat for him to be there for the performance. All the kids did a great job with the singing. Munchkin was bummed to see it all end, but she was also glad that she didn’t have to get up so early every morning. lol! They brought home all of their crafts on Friday, so it was fun seeing their different camp related projects. Today, we found this praying mantis on…

Monsoon Season

Posted in Thoughts

Apparently, we’re in monsoon season here. We didn’t really know what all that entailed as this was a new one for us. We’re use to hurricane season and tornadoes, but monsoons are a new one. Today, we are getting a taste of some of what takes place during monsoon season. Our first major sandstorm was followed by a downpour which was followed by another sandstorm. When downpours occur, we have to watch out for flash floods. Now, we’re listening to the whistling of the wind. The fledgling trees whip back and forth with every gust of wind. The sand looks…

Rejoicing

Posted in Military Life, and Thoughts

Today, after months of being on a roller coaster ride, we closed on our house. We are rejoicing and giving praise to the Lord for allowing us to no longer be homeowners. Yes, that does sound quite odd to say/write, but with this crazy market and the military move, we are grateful that we were able to sell our house fairly quickly. Now that this burden has been lifted, we are able to start really enjoying our new location. I can focus on turning this house into a home. This week, Munchkin has VBS (vacation Bible school) here on base.…

The Mean Mom

Posted in Family, and Thoughts

I believe that I’m quickly earning the title of the “mean mom” in our new neighborhood. Apparently the following items brand you as a mean mom: Your child is required to do her school work and chores before she plays. Your child is not allowed to go into people’s houses when we don’t know them. Your child needs to stay within earshot/eyesight of us (for the most part) instead of going all over the housing area. Your child has a normal bedtime routine that doesn’t include staying out after dark playing. Your child doesn’t always get her way even if…

Time Flies

Posted in Thoughts

I can’t believe how quickly this week has flown by. With Daddy back to work, our days are starting to look a bit different. Munchkin is now back to working on her school work in the mornings. We then work on getting things done around the house. This week seemed to be filled with lots of running around as we needed to get a variety of things done outside of the house. The good news is that we are now all set to homeschool in AZ, and our “puppy” is all registered (county and base) and up to date on…
