Prayers for Our Troops and Their Families

Posted in Christian Life, and Military Life

Several people mentioned that they would like to see a prayer request list not only for deployed troops, but also for all of our military families.  I decided to create one location for both prayer lists.  I will keep a link to this post in my sidebar, so it is always easy to find.  Please feel free to add your prayer requests to this list, and we’ll pray for your family/friends. This prayer list is for our deployed troops and their families. Please leave a link to your blog (if you have one), so we can check in and get…

My Top 10 Deployment Survival Tips

Posted in Military Life, and Thoughts

Every person is different when it comes to deployments, but there is always some common ground that most people go through while dealing with deployments.  Obviously, I approach this from the viewpoint of a spouse, but anyone can use at least some of these tips.  Deployments are never easy, but you can do it with God’s help. The Lord will ultimately give you the strength and comfort that you need to get through this deployment. Gratituesday: Family

Posted in Family, and Military Life

We have been blessed during D’s military career to always be able to drive to see family.  Granted, it has been a long drive at times, but it was always less than a day’s drive away.  When we moved across country this year, we knew that our treks home to see family would come to a halt for a while (we don’t fly due to our “puppy”).  That is never an easy realization. While this is not always easy, it has given us the opportunity to come together.  We (D, Munchkin, and I) have learned to depend on each other…

Merry Christmas, My Friend, Semper Fi and Goodnight!

Merry Christmas, My Friend Twas the night before Christmas; he lived all alone In a one bedroom house made of plaster and stone I had come down the chimney, with presents to give And to see just who in this home did live. As I looked all about, a strange sight I did see No tinsel, no presents, not even a tree No stocking by the fire, just boots filled with sand On the wall hung pictures of a far distant land. With medals and badges, awards of all kind A sobering thought soon came to my mind For this…

Yuma Armed Forces Park

Posted in Holidays, and Military Life

On Veterans Day, we try to do something to remember all of the Veterans who have fought so bravely for our country.  This year, we didn’t have anything particular in mind.  As we were driving to one of our planned field trip locations, we stumbled upon this memorial site.  We decided to stop and look at all of the names on the walls. These walls were different than places that we have gone to in the past.  The names listed on these plaques weren’t just troops that had passed away.  There were those who are still serving, those that had…
