Socialization: Quality or Quantity?

Posted in Homeschooling

What about socialization?  The dreaded question that most, if not all, homeschooling parents will have to face at one point or the other in their homeschooling journey.  Sometimes it’s even the homeschooling parents or prospective homeschooling parents who are asking themselves the question.  Homeschooling parents grow concerned that their children are missing out on something, something that only traditional schooling can offer? The truth is that many schools don’t really offer a great opportunity for socialization.  Many schools have cut back (or cut out) recess.  For elementary children, some schools do not allow them to even talk at lunch.  Often,…

Presidential Penmanship BJ Style Review

Posted in Homeschooling, and Reviews

Zeezok Publishing was founded in 2003 with a goal to provide quality literature and educational books for use in training the next generation.  They believe that “It is better to build children than to repair men.” Zeezok Publishing sent us the Presidential Penmanship BJ Style Complete curriculum on cd to review.  This program includes handwriting skills practice for grades 1st through senior high.  While we do not normally use a separate handwriting program, I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to easily incorporate the use of this program in our every day schooling.  Since the program is made up…

The part that differentiates this product from other typing programs is that it goes beyond just the basics of typing.  You will learn how to vertically and horizontally format a document using scripture passages from Psalms.  You will learn how…

Math Tutor Review

Both Munchkin and I were impressed with The Basic Math Word Problem Tutor.  The instructor, Jason Gibson, was easy to listen to and follow.  He worked through each of the word problems on a white board step-by-step to allow the student to thoroughly understand each concept being taught.  You can read more about Jason’s educational and professional background here.…
