Desert Photo Scavenger Hunt Hike

Project 365 – #103 Since the temps are supposed to be on the rise this week, Munchkin and I decided that we’d head over to the Imperial National Wildlife Refuge on Tuesday.  D had hoped that he would be able to go with us, but his work schedule didn’t allow him to get away.  As we were getting things ready to leave, Munchkin asked if she could see if her friend could go with us.  I told her that it was fine to ask, so Munchkin ran next door to find out if she could join us on our adventure. …

Combining Homeschool with Housework

Project 365 – #095 One of the things that I quickly learned as a new homeschooler is that I can’t do it all. Seriously!  When we are living in a house pretty much 24/7, our home is not going to be as perfect as someone who works and has kiddos in school.  It’s just how it is.  We have craft projects and science projects around the house.  School books and supplies rarely seem to completely find their way back to the official school room because we have a habit of schooling all over the house.  That is our life, our…

Staying on Track

Posted in Christian Life, Homeschooling, and Photography

Project 365 – #084 Sometimes when controversy starts to permeate the homeschool and Christian community, we can lose sight of that which is most important – our faith, our kids.  We need to make sure that we stay on track and be good role models to these precious children in our care.  Our children are intently watching us to see how we handle different situations.  Are we showing them Christ-like behavior or are we allowing our sin nature to play a more dominant role in our actions? I don’t know about you, but I don’t care to see bickering and…

An Encouraging Word

Posted in Christian Life, Homemaking, Homeschooling, Photography, and Reviews

The morning has just begun, but I already feel like I want – I need to just crawl back into bed and pull the covers up over my head.  One thing going wrong seems to lead to another thing going wrong.  Before I know it, everything seems to be spiraling out of control. The house that I just finished cleaning is already a mess.  I have no idea what I’m making for lunch – much less how I’m going to manage to get dinner on the table.  Munchkin is feeling sick.  I’m feeling a migraine coming on.  School?  Well, we’re…

Have Fun with Synonyms!

Synonyms, The word game that gets your mind racing! I love to be able to use educational games in our homeschooling – especially when those games don’t require us to be super serious.  Enter in Synonyms – the board game.  The first thing that struck me about this game was how beautiful it was.  Everything was nicely contained in its own compartment in the box (love that!).  The 400+ color-coded cards were laminated and sturdy so they are sure to last for many, many games (and years) to come. …my mommy brain truly needs to be exercised more! From the…
