Staying on Track

Sometimes when controversy starts to permeate the homeschool and Christian community, we can lose sight of that which is most important – our faith, our kids.  We need to make sure that we stay on track and be good role models to these precious children in our care.  Our children are intently watching us to see how we handle different situations.  Are we showing them Christ-like behavior or are we allowing our sin nature to play a more dominant role in our actions?

I don’t know about you, but I don’t care to see bickering and fighting among Christians.  Yes, there are false doctrines out there.  Yes, we need to be watchful for these doctrines and guard our children’s hearts.  No, we do not need to get caught up in name-calling, taking sides, and gossip.  Instead, we should listen to the Lord’s leading and continue to bring our children up in the way they should go.  After all, it is ultimately our responsibility as parent’s to give spiritual guidance to our children.

What path will we take as we guide our children?  Will we take the easy path or the difficult path?  How do you stay on track with all the distractions in the world?

Enter by the narrow gate;
for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction,
and there are many who go in by it.
Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life,
and there are few who find it
.

  2. This is really tough isn’t it? It’s easy to have the same more everyday reaction to sin, but it’s another to be the example to the kids on how to react. I’ve been going through the exact same thing this week! I posted on my everyday blog. God’s Word, his promises, and our faith in Him is what is definitely getting us through!
    On the 3rd day, my daughter took Romans 12:19 to heart. SO proud!
