Analytical Grammar Companion Dvds

Posted in Homeschooling, and Reviews

Towards the end of the last school year, we started using Analytical Grammar.  I was one of those moms that said I wouldn’t use a grammar program that required a great deal of diagramming.  Well, once again, I’m eating my own words.  It turns out that diagramming works for Munchkin.  She doesn’t always like it, but it does work for her. Munchkin liked the format of Analytical Grammar, but her one complaint was that she felt there wasn’t quite enough instruction for her.  Because she wanted to do the work independently, she would tackle the lesson using her understanding of…

Semper Fidelis: Latin Vocabulary Review Game

Posted in Family, and Homeschooling

We’re having lots of fun learning Latin with Visual Latin, but we still need more review and practice.  I started out making up some vocabulary flash cards and ended up creating a game board with game pieces.  For this game, it’s basically taking normal flashcard review and turning it into a game.  If you get the word correct, they you get to roll the die and move on the game board. I’ve only completed the vocabulary flash cards for Visual Latin lessons 1-10.  I’ll add more cards as I get them completed.  For now, we plan on at least going…

Setting Goals for the 2011-2012 Homeschool Year

Posted in Family, Homemaking, and Homeschooling

The 2011-2012 homeschool year here at Semper Fidelis Academy is well under way.  We’ve already changed a few things since I posted our homeschool plans for the year.  One of the biggest changes is probably dropping the renewable energy study and beginning the horse study.  I need to do some more work on the renewable energy study to make it more independent study friendly for Munchkin.  I can’t say that she’s bummed to be starting the horse study sooner rather than later.  She was blessed with some excellent horse resource books from Grandma, so she’s happily reading and studying. Our…

Literature Notebooking Pages

Posted in Homeschooling

Recently, we received Excellence in Literature – Introduction to Literature to review as part of the TOS Crew.  (That review will be coming at the end of October.)  Since we’re really into using notebooking pages for our studies right now, I decided to create some literature notebooking pages to go with the study.  Some of the pages feature the literature that we’ll be reading during the course of this study while most of the pages are generic pages which use mainly images of antique books. The Literature Notebooking Pages are now part of the Marine Corps Nomads Homeschool Resource Library.…

Horse Notebooking Pages

Posted in Homeschooling

Project 365 – #263 Munchkin is looking forward to her upcoming horse (equine) study.  Part of my preparation involves getting some notebooking pages done for her.  She really enjoys using notebooking pages rather than just plain paper.  I decided to make both black & white pages as well as full color photo pages. Both Horses Notebooking Pages sets are now part of the Marine Corps Nomads Homeschool Resource Library. They’re still free, but they’re now hosted right here. All of the free homeschool resources are available in one easy-access location. You can sign up for free access to the resource…
