A Beautiful Spring Evening

Posted in Family, and Photography

I love spring evenings in the Arizona desert. Beautiful sunsets combined with comfortable evenings make for a perfect ending to the day. Earlier in the day, I let the dogs outside as they were acting rather hyper. They ran around a bit until I looked outside and saw a growing swarm of bees. I quickly got the dogs inside before the bees decided to enter the house. I then watched as the swarm grew and took over the backyard. They were everywhere! After awhile, they made their way around the house to the front yard and eventually left our immediate…

Our Crazy Military Life: Another Change

Posted in Family, Military Life, and Photography

Life as a military family is never dull. Nope… It’s always filled with interesting twists and turns that keep you on your toes. When we learned that there was the possibility that we’d be receiving orders to Okinawa, Japan, our family groaned as this was not in our plans. There was still the chance that we’d be sent somewhere else, so we just let things be. Then, we found out that we were indeed receiving orders there, so my mindset completely changed. It appeared that our plans were not the Lord’s plans. I had to embrace this new reality and…

Playing with the Herd

Posted in Family, and Photography

On any given day, you can probably find Munchkin and her good friend behind our houses in the grassy area playing. Many days, you will find them playing with the herd. It takes them some time to get everything all set up as between the two of them they have quite the set of horses. (They do take breaks from the horses and play with other animals or occasionally American Girls, but lately, horses seem to be the animal of choice.) They can play for hours (if allowed) with the horses. They make up elaborate stories to go along with…

Preparing for an Overseas Military Move

Normally, every 3 years (give or take a year) we receive orders. It seems that we rarely (if ever) actually get our preferred duty station. Thankfully, the Lord always works things out for us, so we end up being somewhere that works out for us in some way or another. Before moving here, we were unexpectedly stationed in southern Virginia. This was not on the radar for us, but Munchkin and I very much enjoyed it. Daddy was deployed most of our time living there, so he didn’t really get to enjoy it as much. lol! Once he got back…

Worry about Nothing, Pray about Everything

Posted in Christian Life, Family, and Photography

The Bible tells us… “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Phil. 4:6 It sounds so simple, but putting that into action isn’t always easy. We give our cares, concerns, worries to the Lord, and then, for some unknown reason, we try to take them back. Why, oh why, do we do this to ourselves? When I have that “uh-ha” moment and realize that I’m trying to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders, I tend to do the little palm smack on the forehead…
