This weekend, it was time for the HUGE Midnight at the Oasis Car Show. Thankfully, it wasn’t as hot this year as in years past, so it was more comfortable walking around. We enjoyed seeing all the beautiful cars and trucks. Munchkin and I took lots of pictures for ideas for her truck.

Daddy decided that we would take a short off-roading trip on Saturday afternoon, so we quickly loaded up the truck and headed out. While we had been to the general area before, we had never made it all the way back to Ferguson Lake. Ferguson Lake road snakes through the Imperial long-term visitor area where many snowbirds stay during the winter months and weaves through Senator Wash and some of the Chocolate Mountains until you arrive at the end of the road. At the end of January, I briefly mentioned getting reading for some big changes, but I didn’t give any details at the time. Well, it’s finally time to make the announcement because it’s “military” official. Marine Corps Nomads (pending medical clearance for the family) is heading to Japan. Yes, it’s a huge and unexpected change for us as this was not in our plans. We’ve been slowly starting the process of getting ready as we awaited confirmation of orders. We were thrilled when D decided that he finally felt up to hiking again as it had been a long time since we’ve been able to go hiking together as a family. Even when he was able to go hiking previously, due to his back issues, he was unable to even carry his own hydration pack. I was happy that he could now carry his own pack, and he wanted to tackle a longer hike with the pups. Based upon our regular walks, we knew that the pups would enjoy hiking to some extent.
