Playing with the Herd

Posted in Family, and Photography

The Horse Herd

On any given day, you can probably find Munchkin and her good friend behind our houses in the grassy area playing.

Many days, you will find them playing with the herd. It takes them some time to get everything all set up as between the two of them they have quite the set of horses. (They do take breaks from the horses and play with other animals or occasionally American Girls, but lately, horses seem to be the animal of choice.)

They can play for hours (if allowed) with the horses. They make up elaborate stories to go along with their play. I’ve stopped trying to follow some of the crazy stories they come up with a long time ago, but I still listen when Munchkin decides to share one of their latest creative efforts. They both have extremely active imaginations which are fueled by their love of reading.

As would be expected with two independent-minded young ladies, they do have a tift now and then when they both come up with a wonderful story, and no compromise can be found between the two. Usually, they move past it, but us moms have had to step in here and there to smooth things over. (They act like siblings at times. lol!)

I know that all too soon Munchkin will probably grow out of this phase, but I’m enjoying it while it lasts.

This spring, her friend is moving away, and sometime after that, we too will make our departure to a new location. Munchkin’s definitely concerned about finding another friend who will still enjoy this type of play. Munchkin will be a teen this spring and finding another teenager who enjoys this type of play will not be easy. We prayed that she would have a good friend at this location, and the Lord blessed us greatly with a friend who lived right next door.

Friends

With this move, we’re not only praying that Munchkin will find another good friend, but that the Lord will bless her current friend with a good friend as well. They both view the world a little differently, and they’re not afraid to embrace their childhood just a little longer….

good on them 🙂 They remind me of one of my nephews who wants to be a farmer he has a set of animals and he uses twigs etc to make pens for them on his “farm”.

I pray that indeed Munchkin will make many new friends when you move

  3. It took me a moment to see that those were not real horses. lol

Moving is always difficult- tough- but much more so on the kids. Praying for both the girls with this move. God always has a plan and perhaps there is a new friend in need that your daughter and her friend will be able to be a friend.
