Exploring Joshua Tree: Eureka Peak

Posted in Family, Outdoor Adventures, and Photography

We’d been working quite hard at getting the house unpacked and set up the last couple of weeks, so Saturday afternoon D decided that it was time to go do something fun. We stopped by one of the Joshua Tree National Park entrances to talk to one of the park rangers to get an idea of what all was available as well as pick up a park map. The park ranger that we talked to was extremely enthusiastic about the park and the activities there, so it was easy to get excited about exploring everything. Because we were getting started…

Exploring Joshua Tree National Park

Posted in Family, Outdoor Adventures, and Photography

You already know that we love going out and exploring nature. One of our newest stomping grounds for exploration will be Joshua Tree National Park. Joshua Tree National Park is known for it’s Joshua Trees which are part of the Agave family of plants. I know, big surprise, right? It’s also know as a great place for off-roading, mountain biking, hiking, camping, horseback riding, and rock climbing. As we explore the park, I’ll be sharing pictures of the places that we go. You know me and pictures… there are sure to be lots of them. lol! Once the weather cools…

Unpacking and Organizing

It’s pretty crazy around here right now. We’re still working on finishing up the unpacking. We have piles around the house because many of our bookshelves didn’t make the move with us plus the movers broken some of our other storage. Thankfully, we do have our main bookcases set up, so I can see those books. Our additional library will have to wait until we either purchase more bookcases or D makes me more – whichever his schedule allows. The moving company is coming by tomorrow (Wednesday) to pick up the debris (boxes and packing material) from the move. I need…

Happy Trails to You

While Munchkin and I were staying at the cabin, we had the opportunity to volunteer at Happy Trails Horse Camp for special needs individuals. We had previously taken the orientation and training, so we were all set to start when we arrived at the cabin. Each camp session lasted 3 days and saw a new set of campers/riders. Each day the campers were divided into 2 groups (they stayed in the same group all week for continuity when at all possible) to allow for more personalized attention to each individual. While one group was riding, the other group would be…

Getting Back into the Blogging Groove

Posted in Family, and Military Life

After nearly a month and a half of internet only on my phone unless we hit the library, I finally have high speed internet again. It’s something that I took for granted, so it was a wake-up call not to have even dial-up available. What it did allow was lots of great time to be spent with Munchkin (and D when he was around). Our time at the cabin, while not always relaxing, was refreshing. We are now getting settled into our new place in CA. Yes, we still have the cabin and will continue to work on it as…
