The First Day of the 2013/2014 Homeschool Year

Posted in Family, and Homeschooling

While Munchkin has been doing some school the last few weeks, it hasn’t been the full load of classes. Today, we’re officially starting our 9th year of homeschooling only it’s starting off a little differently due to our new volunteer work at the horse rescue. Our new school day will also look different as school work will be done after we get home from the stables. Our curriculum is similar to what we used last year with a few changes. Here’s what we plan on using this year: Biblical Archaeology Latin (combination of Visual Latin and Lingva Latina) Thinkwell Math…

Munchkin’s Foster Horse

Posted in Family

It’s been a bit of a crazy week already at the horse rescue, and it’s only Tuesday when I’m writing this. Monday morning found us back at the ranch ready to get back to work. Munchkin thought that she’d be fostering Sadie, but over the weekend, Sadie was adopted by a really great family which is wonderful news for Sadie. Thankfully, we had talked about this possibility prior to arriving at the ranch, so while she was disappointed, it wasn’t a huge let down. With what happened next, it quickly became the last thing we were thinking about…. Shortly after…

The Road from Sedona

After eating, we starting our loop home back to the cabin which lead to even more beautiful locations. Along the way, we stopped at a native american market located at one of the national parks. Munchkin and I walked along and looked at all the beautiful pottery and jewelry before catching up with Daddy who was viewing the scenery. We had left the puppies in the car due to all of the people at the location, so we didn’t stay out too long. While Daddy and Munchkin took the pups out for a walk, I circled back and picked up…

The Road to Sedona

This past weekend, while we were at the cabin, we decided to take a road trip to Sedona as we hadn’t been there before. It was a spur of the moment decision as Daddy just thought it would be fun. Of course, the puppies had to go on the road trip with us as it wouldn’t be the same without them. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous which made for an enjoyable trip. Much to my surprise, D looked up a gluten-free restaurant that focused on super healthy food, gmo-free, soy-free food. I thought we were going to just have a…

Fostering a Rescue Horse

Posted in Family

It’s funny, we had all of these great plans for Munchkin when we arrived here, but it turns out that the Lord had even better plans for her. You see, we had planned on paying for her to take riding lessons, and I was in the process of getting more information when I found a local horse rescue. I called the owner up to talk to her about volunteer opportunities and ended up walking away from the call super excited as this place was just what Munchkin needed. Later that day, Daddy, Munchkin, and I headed over to the rescue…
