Unpacking and Organizing

Pile of Moving Boxes

It’s pretty crazy around here right now. We’re still working on finishing up the unpacking. We have piles around the house because many of our bookshelves didn’t make the move with us plus the movers broken some of our other storage. Thankfully, we do have our main bookcases set up, so I can see those books. Our additional library will have to wait until we either purchase more bookcases or D makes me more – whichever his schedule allows.

The moving company is coming by tomorrow (Wednesday) to pick up the debris (boxes and packing material) from the move. I need to finish putting together the claim information, so D can submit the claim for all of the damage.

Life doesn’t slow down just because you’re moving. We still have cooking and cleaning to do in addition to the other things that come with a move. D is back to work full time. Munchkin is gradually working back into her regular school routine as we missed a bit of time over the few months.

Organizing is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it is not all mixed up. A. A. Milne

I hate feeling disorganized, so finding a home for everything soon feels extremely important to me right now. My kitchen is a bit of a mess as we’re still in the process of getting all the kitchenware washed before using it. I also need to decide where everything is going to go. I no longer have a traditional pantry, so that’s throwing me for a bit of a loop. Even so, things are slowly finding their homes. I may need to label all the cabinets for a period of time though as the organization is completely different from homes we’ve had in the past.

Munchkin did a fantastic job of getting her room unpacked and set up the very first day. I was impressed. It’s the first time that I haven’t done anything with her things, so it was a bittersweet moment. She’s growing up which is both good and bad. It makes my job a little easier when it comes to the move, but it also showcases how quickly our little girl is turning into a young lady. **sigh** I don’t remember giving her permission to grow up so fast. 😉

The master bedroom still has a few piles, but those should be gone shortly as I finish up unpacking the other boxes around the house. For whatever reason, our room and the office/guest room/sewing room always seem to be the rooms that get organized last.

Slowing by surely, our new home is coming together. I’m looking forward to having a space that once again feel relaxing – like home.
