The Christmas Play

Posted in Family, and Holidays

The kids put a good bit of time into preparing for this play. The adults put even more time in behind the scenes with the set, lighting, costumes… No one knew if it will all come together on Sunday morning. Everyone waited and prayed to see what the Lord would have for this play. Sunday morning came bright and early. Munchkin did not want to get out of bed as it was “too early” (not that Daddy and I didn’t agree), but she crawled out of bed and got ready as she was excited. I surprised her with a new…

Advent Week Three in Review

Posted in Christian Life, Family, and Holidays

Advent Reading:  We continued our reading of Jotham’s Journey. Each night seems to leave us on the edges of our seats.  All of us are enjoying the readings.  We sit in bed.  Daddy and Munchkin cuddle while I read the story.  They tend to giggle at some of the voices that I use.  Munchkin says that my voice for one of the characters is quite creepy (that’s good since he’s really a evil person). School: Munchkin continued with her Names of Jesus study.  This week, she learned about: Redeemer Resurrection and Life The Way, The Truth, The Life Immanuel Holy…

Ornament Making Party

Posted in Family, Holidays, and Thoughts

Munchkin had decided that she wanted to invite her friends over for an ornament making party. She had all these grand plans in her head, but things didn’t go exactly as planned… The original date for the party fell through, so she decided to invite her friends over on Friday afternoon. Since it was nice out, she set up all of the supplies outside and headed off to gather up her friends from the neighborhood. One friend wasn’t home yet, so they chose to start without her. (She’s not in the picture as she came over after the picture was…

As a member of the TOS Crew, we received a 3 month subscription to KinderBach.  Unfortunately, this service is too young for Munchkin, so this will just be a brief informational review.  Please see the reviews of my crewmates for more in depth information on the actual use of the program. KinderBach offers 6 different levels (over 240 sessions) of fun, family friendly music classes for kids ages 3-7.  Through the instruction given my Miss Karri, students will learn to play simple songs and identify music direction, work on rhythm and learn beat value, train in proper hand and finger…

Christmas Traditions

Posted in Family, Holidays, and Homemaking

We have lots of different Christmas traditions including new Christmas pjs, making Christmas goodies, doing an Advent activity, making ornaments and crafts…  Some of these things are just fun, family activities while others help us stay focused on Christ. One of the activities that helps us focus on Christ is to make or do something with the Nativity Story – the story of Christ’s birth.  (I always feel weird calling it a story because it’s so much more than “just a story”.) This year, Munchkin was able to build her own Nativity scene using a punch out book that I…
