The Christmas Play

Posted in Family, and Holidays

The kids put a good bit of time into preparing for this play. The adults put even more time in behind the scenes with the set, lighting, costumes… No one knew if it will all come together on Sunday morning. Everyone waited and prayed to see what the Lord would have for this play.

Sunday morning came bright and early. Munchkin did not want to get out of bed as it was “too early” (not that Daddy and I didn’t agree), but she crawled out of bed and got ready as she was excited. I surprised her with a new bow barrette for her hair, and I wrapped her elastic band with tinsel to match her angel costume. Off we went to church.

Once we arrived, they went over the procedures for the play with the kids (and adults).  They quickly had a condensed rehearsal, and then it was off to get their costumes on.  Once it was time for church to begin, we filed the kids into the auditorium.  D and I went to our seats, and the congregation sang a few songs.  Then, the lights faded and the play began.  D began taping, and I was armed with the regular camera.  In came Munchkin…

After the angels said their lines, they (and the kids choir) sang Angels We Have Heard On High.

After they closed with Go Tell It on the Mountain, the crowd stood and gave them all a standing ovation.  It was beautiful, and God was given the glory through this play.
