Larry learnsIn Larry Learns to Listen, Larry is so caught up in jumping into playing his new video game that he forgets to listen to the guidance he is receiving from others.  His failure to listen leads to some unfortunate events.

In this new Veggie Tales video, viewers follow Larry as he learns to valuable lesson of listening.  The dvd contains two previous Veggie Tales episodes – Pistachio – The Little Boy Who Woodn’t and Josh and the Big Wall– to help with the lesson of listening.

The bonus features include:

  • Listen Singalong Song
  • Visit a Marionette Theater
  • “Larry Learns to Listen” Interactive Book
  • “Song of the Cebu” Singalong Song
Larry Learns to Listen showcases a valuable lesson that we all need to learn whether young or old.  The 2 classic episodes tie in nicely to the lesson that Larry is learning in this dvd.  The one thing that we didn’t really care for was the musical “Listen” song.  We wish they would bring back more of the classic Silly Songs with Larry feel instead of this style of musical.

Bob LendsIn VeggieTales: Bob Lends a Helping Hand, Bob the Tomato offers to help Joe’s mom when she breaks her toe.

In this Veggie Tales video, viewers follow Bob as he helps Larry and Joe understand the value of helping others.  The dvd uses 2 previous episodes – Tomato Sawyer and Huckleberry Larry’s Big River Rescue and Lyle the Kindly Viking – to help show the value of helping others and putting others needs first.

Bonus Features include:

  • Singalong to “Bob Lends A Helping Hand”
  • Boiling River Family Activity
  • How to Draw Tom and Huck
  • “Bob Lends a Helping Hand” Interactive Book
A Helping Hand is a cute musical story and pairs well with the 2 classic Veggie Tale shows.  Once again, the one thing that we miss is the classic Silly Songs with Larry instead of the new musical selection.

Little Drummer BoyIn Veggie Tales Little Drummer Boy, Junior Asparagus is left with his Grandpa while his parents head out Christmas shopping.  When Junior misses his friends stopping by to head out caroling due to a series of events, he finds himself “stuck” with Grandpa who decides to tell him the tale of the Little Drummer Boy.

Bonus features include:

  • Little Drummer Boy music video
  • Visit a Drum Factory with Junior
  • Behind the Music of The Little Drummer Boy
  • Family Activity – Make Your Own Drum
  • Singalong Songs
  • Interactive Book Preview – Christmas is Finally Here

In true Veggie Tales fashion, the story of the Little Drummer Boy is told with fun Veggie Tale flare including some references to Star Wars which lend an interesting (hilarious) twist to the tale of old.  Aaron (played by Junior) finds himself going through some rough times due to a series of unfortunate events.  His faith and trust in both God and humanity is shaken.  The story is rather sad at the beginning, so some kids may have a difficult time with it.  The mood is lightened by Veggie Tale style humor in an attempt to keep the story from being too dark.  We really enjoyed the Veggie Tales version of Little Drummer Boy especially with the various movie spoofs contained in it.  It did a great job getting the message across in a fun yet meaningful way.

“8 Polish Foods of Christmas” finally makes an animated debute on this dvd. You can’t help but laugh through this silly Christmas song.

o holy night cdVeggie Tales has released a brand new Christmas cd – O Holy Night – to go along with the Little Drummer Boy release which features:

  • Hark the Herald Angels Sing
  • Do You Hear What I Hear
  • It’s About Love – featuring Wynonna Judd
  • Can’t Smile Without Ewe
  • Meant to Be – featuring Steven Curtis Chapman
  • Silent Night
  • What Child is This / The First Noel
  • Give This Christmas Away – featuring Amy Grant & Matthew West
  • Oh Holy Night
  • Away In A Manger
  • The Little Drummer Boy – featuring BeBe and CeCe Winans

It’s a nice blend of songs song by your favorite Veggie Tales characters as well as well known artists.  (On a side note, Munchkin did not care for this particular rendition of Little Drummer Boy which is one of her favorite Christmas songs.)  Special packages which include both the cd and dvd are available through the Veggie Tales store. The dvd and cd can be purchased individually at your favorite store or online.
