WFMW: Craft and Toy Storage

Posted in Homemaking

I try to keep lots of crafting supplies on hand for Munchkin and her friend.  The problem is keeping those supplies organized and easily in reach.  We had some of the plastic rolling carts, but they were always collapsing and breaking.

A few years back, we had purchased a couple of the Trofast system units from IKEA for storage of some of my things.  When we moved this time, I decided these would be perfect to store craft and school supplies. (The white stand next to the Trofast units is from our old bathroom, but it doesn’t work at our new house for the bathroom.  We re-purposed it as a place to store paper.)

Trofast Tall

We quickly learned that these would be a perfect way to house Munchkin’s toys (legos, dinosaurs, horses, animals, blocks…), so we purchased a couple of units to go behind our futon.  At the same time, we added one more tall unit to house more craft items and some toys.  Because the bins are easy to remove, Munchkin often will just grab the bins when she wants to play with the toys.  (You may be able to see all of the dirt on some of the bins in the unit behind the futon.  That’s because those house the horses, animals, and dinosaurs.  These toys are routinely taken outside by Munchkin and her friends and played with in the dirt.)

Before we just moved, I had built-ins for much storage of school/toy stuff. Now, I have a mess. I'm going to look over at IKEA's website–this looks like something that might work for me! Huh. I prayed the other day that God would help me come up with a way to deal with our stuff:)

I am a sucker for nice looking and organized storage solutions. I could live in Ikea. Really.

We love the Trofast system! Currently they're used for toys but I want more and I hadn't even thought about using them for craft supplies. Oh the possibilities!!

    We're a Marine family also. 🙂

Oh I heart IKEA and this system. If we only had one in Kansas 🙁 The next time I go to Toronto I'm buying for sure! Thanks for the inspiration 🙂
