That being said, I enjoy my morning devotions. So, in the morning, I get up and fix breakfast for my daughter. Then, while I’m eating breakfast, I do my devotions. Munchkin knows that this is my quiet time, so she allows me this alone time each morning. I have learned that if I don’t do my devotions in the morning, our day does not go very well.
Late night work, morning devotions, and prayer work for me. What works for you?
I am glad you have found a routine that works so well for you. We start with morning prayers every day, too!
Ya! Same here. It definitely makes a difference, doesn’t it?
Perfect! I need to find my perfect time of day as well.
Thanks for sharing.
I do devotions and read my Bible in the morning too. I have to do it first thing… before having a shower even, or it will not get done. And no, you can’t have too much prayer EVER! Happy Wednesday!
Devotions are hard with little helpers. I get up before they do…but they don’t have to get up very early. We homeschool and start our day later than most. and you are right about the prayer!
I agree with you. I find that morning devotions make a difference in our day. I do something similar. I try to get up before the kids but if I don’t I will do it during breakfast while they eat at the table, and I have asked them to let me do that and give me a few minutes. On the one hand it’s easier when they are asleep, but on the other I think it’s also good for them to see me modeling it and making it a priority and getting it done. You’ve convicted me to start school with prayer, though. You are right about prayer. Can’t have too much and it’s important to teach our kids to lean on God for everything. Including school. 🙂
Thank you!
I like reading morning prayer while I’m nusing my baby down for his morning nap. And you’re right – the days I don’t do it don’t go nearly as well!
peace of Christ to you,
Jessica
I am training myself to become an early riser. I used to be a late nighter but I am getting better at rising early and I find the morning so very productive. It is great you have found what works for you and your family. You are instilling great values in your daughter’s life. I found that if I take my shower at night I am able to get started right away with my daily duties. I spend about 30 mintues in reading the bible combined with prayer. I agree with you, if I skip this step, my day is shot!
God Bless
Rean Day
That is good. We were doing them together before school, but have gotten out of the habit. Need to get back to it!
That is wonderful. I really need to find my time to do this as well! Thanks for sharing!
Our day doesn’t go well when I miss my morning Bible Study and prayer. The girls have their own Bible studies they work on while I am doing mine. It really is a good way to start the day because we are reminded of who has the master plan for our lives.
That is wonderful you have found time for the important things in life and to be a great example for your daughter. I have noticed that example is worth more than a million words! Another thing I do is talk about the ways God takes care of me and the family while we are driving (and at worship). I find that as the kids get older I spend a lot of quality time in the car with a captive audience! (smile) And to always to remember to says thanks for the way God provides for us. Even the littlest things. The bible says that “every good thing comes from God” Thank you for this inspiring WFMW!
Thanks for the challenge! I know I NEED the time in the word and I am great at making excuses because of my little ones. Somehow I always find blog time though! 🙁 Bad girl!
I’m so glad you’re in a good routine. You’re right, there’s no such thing as too much prayer. God wants us to pray continually. I find that I do really well for a while, but then let my devotion time slide. I need to be more diligent.

My days just don’t go well if I don’t start them with prayer and some Bible reading. I have 3 kids (two are homeschooled) and I find that I must do mine before they ever get up or it doesn’t get done…as they are not quite as patient as your little munchkin. :o)
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
I’m a night person too. To have my “quiet time” for devotions in the morning, I’d have to get up before my husband – which means before 4:40 (he’s military too).
My son is back in school this year, so I generally do my bible study after he’s on the bus.
Oh – and prayer works for me too – anytime, anywhere, for any reason!
Good ideas!
Thanks for stopping by my blog too.
I need a routine like this that works for me. I too function much like you do. My kids are too little to understand the quiet time, but hopefully someday this will work for me too!
I’m currently trying to get a morning routine started for my devotions – I have been slack on doing them, but I am sooooooooo not a morning person. It’s one of the things that I’m working on for Lent! Happy WFMW!
