Establishing a New Routine

We’re still getting settled into the new place even though we’ve been here a little over a month now. I was on track to have the house completely unpacked and organized on record pace until we started volunteering at the horse rescue. You see, we were immediately drawn into helping there as there is so much that needs to be done. Both Munchkin and I really enjoy our time there even though it is hard work. Because of this, we’re still trying to find a good schedule that works for us.

Right now, we’re working/volunteering at the ranch between 4 and 5 hours per day. Some days we’re there a bit longer due to special circumstances. After we get home from the ranch, we eat and get started with our schooling. I’m balancing my classes, Munchkin’s homeschool, and household tasks during the afternoon. There are times that the house is on the losing end of the stick, so I really need to try to finish getting things organized so it will run a bit more smoothly.

The crockpot and one pot meals are quickly becoming my friend again as I try to find just a little more time in the day. Evenings are generally slated for family time although Mondays may soon be American Heritage Girl nights. Since we’ve never done American Heritage Girls before, I’m not really sure what to expect when it comes to time considerations for that. Munchkin is still making the decision on whether we will be joining the group or not. As the school year begins, we’ll also be involved at some level with the local homeschool group.

Saturdays are either for exploring and/or getting jobs done around the house. On Sundays, we really do try to have a relaxing day after church. No matter what, weekends are family time.

Needless to say, I’m still trying to establish a regular blogging routine. It’s something that I enjoy doing and miss when I’m not able to do it. I’m also trying to find the time to finish up some of the notebooking and classroom projects that I want to get done. The foodie part of me is crying out for attention as I haven’t spent much time nurturing the creative and practical side of food lately.

I’m sure we’ll eventually find just the right balance to create a routine that will work for all of us. For now, we’ll continue to seek balance and tweak our routine a little at a time….
