Last year, I received my first spiral slicer, and I got hooked on the idea of veggie pasta and spiralized fruits and veggies. I used the slicer for basic things, but I felt like I wasn’t getting the full use out of it. When I saw a cookbook dedicated to fully utilizing the spiral slicer, I knew that I wanted to check it out. I needed ideas, and Inspiralized by Ali Maffucci provided a lot of ideas – with pictures. (You know how I love pictures for inspiration.)

I was quite impressed with Ali’s journey with food and the story behind her website and now book. I’m on my own health and fitness journey, so I can relate to a lot of what she shared. She’s not stuck on a particular type of diet other than healthy, whole foods. She encourages people to eat what is best for their bodies which could vary from person to person.

The recipes in the book are fun and easy. While many of them are very basic, I like the inspiration and ideas provided by the variety of recipes. The pictures a beautiful, and honestly, they make me quite hungry. The one thing that I didn’t necessarily like was that the book was geared towards the use of one particular spiral slicer, so she talked about those specific blades. It was fairly easy to figure out which blade I needed, but I would have preferred she used a more generic description.

If you’re new to using a spiral slicer, Ali goes into good detail on how to use the spiral slicer and the various cuts. She even explains how to make “rice” from veggies. In addition, she shares methods for different veggies and fruits to get the best results from your spiral slicer.

Whether you’re looking to get started with using a spiral slicer or you just want to get more use out of the one that you already own, Inspiralized is a fun cookbook to get more veggie and fruit inspiration.
