Bread and Butter by Erin McKenna

I received a copy of this book from the publisher for review purposes. I remember hearing about Babycakes bakery for the first time on Cupcake Wars. I was impressed that they were doing gluten free, vegan cupcakes that tasted good. While I’m not vegan, I appreciated the difficultly that came not only with baking gluten free but also vegan. Eggs are a go-to binder for many gluten free bakers – myself included, so not using eggs was rather intriguing. When this new cookbook was released by Erin McKenna, I was quite interested in trying out some of the recipes. The…

Special thanks to the publisher through BookLookBloggers for providing a review copy of this book. This post may contain affiliate links. I have taken a couple of good photography classes over the years, but if I don’t use the information that I learn on a regular basis, I tend to forget some key information. What I like about this book is that it focuses primarily on nature photography. Yes, it goes over all the critical information like aperture, shutter speed, ISO as well as different settings and camera features, but it’s all about how to get the best nature photography…

Special thanks to the publisher for providing a review copy through Book Look Blogger. This post may contain affiliate links. Last year, I received my first spiral slicer, and I got hooked on the idea of veggie pasta and spiralized fruits and veggies. I used the slicer for basic things, but I felt like I wasn’t getting the full use out of it. When I saw a cookbook dedicated to fully utilizing the spiral slicer, I knew that I wanted to check it out. I needed ideas, and Inspiralized by Ali Maffucci provided a lot of ideas – with pictures.…

It promises tasty treats that are grain free. I appreciated the layout of the recipes as they were easy to read and follow. The little personal stories included with the recipes added that personal touch which I enjoy. It allows me to get to know the author a little better. The recipes for us were hit or…

Review: Bread Revolution by Peter Reinhart

Special thanks to Blogging for Books for providing a review copy of this book. One of my favorite things about this book is the scientific approach to baking. It goes into techniques, baking theories, tools, and ingredients before diving into the art of working with a sour dough starter and sprouted grain flours. I love reading all the technical stuff when it comes to baking, so this aspect of the book was right up my alley. Before I go much further, I have to point out that the font in this book is really small for a cookbook. When looking…
