Christmas Tree 2013

Christmas Tree at Cabin

It’s funny how the same Christmas tree that has looked rather large in most of our homes looks a bit smaller at the cabin next to the large fireplace. I am so grateful that this year we have a floor instead of plywood, and that we have a fully insulated cabin. It’s much cozier this year. πŸ˜‰

Some of the lights have gone out on this pre-lit Christmas tree, but we’re still using it as we like the tree. Munchkin, once again, did most of the decorating for the tree. Normally, we decorate on Thanksgiving day, but we were traveling on Thanksgiving so the decorating happened a little later this year. Plus, Munchkin needed to finish writing her 2nd book during NANOWRIMO, so she focused all her attention to that in order to meet the deadline.

Nativity Scene

I love all the lights at Christmas, but my favorite decoration is probably my nativity scenes. One of my favorites in my collection is probably my Willow Tree nativity set. I started with just the basics and have added a piece here and there over the last few years. I know Daddy and Munchkin got me a new piece this year for Christmas, and I can’t wait to see what piece they decided on. πŸ™‚

The trimmings and gifts of Christmas are fun, but I am so thankful for Christ becoming man. It was this first step that would ultimately lead to our salvation. I’m thankful that a young Mary wanted to be a servant to the Lord, and that Joseph was willing to put himself in an awkward position to obey the Lord.Β And Mary said, β€œ’Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.’ And the angel departed from her.” Luke 1:38 They were both beautiful examples of following the Lord’s will no matter how difficult it might be.
