Munchkin thoroughly enjoys practicing archery even though there are times that she gets quite frustrated in the process of learning. She hasn’t really had a chance to practice very much since the move due to our crazy schedules and less than desirable weather (too hot or too cold).
When we were up at the cabin, we were able to pick her up a couple of new arrows that were a bit longer and better made than her original arrows, so she was eager to test them out. On Wednesday, we had beautiful weather in the low 50s with little to no wind. It was a perfect day for some archery practice.
After setting up the target and attaching her new muskrat target sheets, she started testing out her new arrows. We soon realized that all of the work at the ranch has increased her upper body strength, so pulling back the bow string was almost too easy now. We’ll be making a few adjustments on the bow to help with this. 😉
She determined that the new arrows were much better than the old ones and has plans to pick up a few more the next time we’re up at the cabin or somewhere else that carries the same type of arrows.
It didn’t take long for her to start making some nice groupings on the target. She had a good bit of fun with the muskrat targets. lol! Mom (me) even took a turn at shooting a few times. I had forgotten how much I enjoy shooting a bow when the weather is nice. (The last time I tried her bow it was rather windy and chilly – not so fun.) I may have to start joining her from time to time. **grin**
I enjoyed watching her practice and seeing how much she’d grown over the last few months.
I sat there watching her and couldn’t help but think about how quickly my baby girl is growing up. I smiled…. I love that she is happy being a bit quirky with her own sense of style and interests. She’s got some attitude like her mama, but it’s that spunk, passion, and persistence that’s going to help her be successful in whatever life sends her way. It’s moments like these that I want to remember for a long time to come. Little things such as her smile at the simple pleasures in life like hitting a bullseye. 🙂
