One of the things that Munchkin wanted to do for her birthday was go to the zoo or the aquarium. To do this, we could either head over to the San Diego area or over to the Phoenix area. We wanted to take a long weekend trip instead of just heading over for the day. Happy 13th Birthday, Munchkin!

Our baby girl is 13. It’s hard to believe we’re parents to a teenager. Munchkin’s requested meals for her birthday from top to bottom all gluten free: homemade french toast sticks with fresh strawberries, turkey sandwich with apple slices, baked mac ‘n cheese with tomato salad, strawberry shortcake in the shape of a heart. Daddy gave Munchkin this ring for her birthday. It’s inscribed with Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  

Accepting the Uncertainty of Military Life

Over the past year, we’ve had a great deal of uncertainty enter our lives. With D having 2 back surgeries, we didn’t know if he’d recover enough to continue his career in the Marine Corps. The truth is, we’re still not completely certain where we stand with that as he’s still on limited duty and hasn’t fully recovered from the last back surgery. We were told we were heading to Japan as our next duty station, so we went through the process of getting ready for that only to have D denied (as expected) due to his medical situation. Now,…
