The Lord Establishes Our Steps

Posted in Christian Life, Family, and Photography

Over the last year, we’ve watched Munchkin’s focus slowly shift from dinosaurs and paleontology to horses.  She liked the idea of being a paleontologist, but the reality wasn’t something that she truly wanted to try to do.  With horses, she definitely likes the idea of working with horses.  She also dreams of rescuing horses and working with horse therapy for kids.  We thought it would be nice if she could actually get some hands on time with this to see if it was just the idea that she likes or if she really does like the reality as well, but…

Learning Latin Can Be Fun with Visual Latin

Posted in Homeschooling, and Reviews

Visual Latin…  Where do I even begin this review?  This program has really changed things around our house.  I was one of those homeschool moms who never thought that we’d be studying Latin.  It wasn’t even remotely on my radar.  I admit that I didn’t place a great deal of value in studying Latin.  Boy was I wrong! From day one, Munchkin loved – yes, loved – this program.  She wanted to watch the lessons because her teacher, Mr. Dwane, makes Latin fun and entertaining.  After watching just the free introduction lessons, she asked me to get her a Latin-English,…

Whisk together the coconut milk and honey.  Slowly pour over the cake.…

Analytical Grammar Companion Dvds

Posted in Homeschooling, and Reviews

Towards the end of the last school year, we started using Analytical Grammar.  I was one of those moms that said I wouldn’t use a grammar program that required a great deal of diagramming.  Well, once again, I’m eating my own words.  It turns out that diagramming works for Munchkin.  She doesn’t always like it, but it does work for her. Munchkin liked the format of Analytical Grammar, but her one complaint was that she felt there wasn’t quite enough instruction for her.  Because she wanted to do the work independently, she would tackle the lesson using her understanding of…
